Perfect matchup for the Devils. Didn't let Hartnell, Talbot and the rest of those clowns get under their skin like the Penguins did.

Flyers are light years ahead offensively, better defensively, have the better goalie, and the best power play.
Flyers are also getting healthy.
They have JVR back, Grossmann who has been our best defender since he got here, and possibly another very good defenseman in Meszaros sometime this round or the next.
I kind of feel like I would be actually taking unfair advantage of you with this deal.
At least his sense of fair play is intact.

The Pens, who were the Cup favorites heading into the playoffs, couldn't get the Flyers to 7 games with home ice advantage.
The Flyers are going to bury the Devils.
Simply bury them.

Philly fans are given a bad rep but boy you talk about alot of them Trash and sore losers are not is not even words to describe them.
Predictions like this all and all are a joke by some mindless homer fan that cannot see defensive hockey and goaltending

Of all the fans of all the teams in all the different sports, Flyers fans have got to be the most obnoxious, idiotic, hated people in North America. For people who were not aware of this before, 'PhillyFlyers' and '** Picks' have made this so obvious that all of SBR now knows. These fans are so cocky and self-centered that there is not another team in the NHL who I would have rather had the Devils embarrass this badly. Regardless of how the Devils do from here on out, it is such a great feeling to know how miserable the Devils have made the Flyers fans feel that this season is already a success. Flyers fans are just such miserable people that it is so great to know they are now suffering.
'** Picks,' you sure changed your avatar quickly from the Flyers logo to your other pathetic Philadelphia team.
'PhillyFlyers,' I'll give you SBR points if you even have the balls to try and defend yourself, your team, and your terrible fuckin prediction that the Flyers would win this series in 5. You're a fuckin joke who adds nothing to the forum and I hope that this series drives you away from this forum forever. Have fun watching real teams play hockey now as this season is already a success for me after the Devils eliminated your pathetic franchise.

Haha, interacting with Flyers fans at the Prudential Center for Games 3 and 4 has made me realize just how awful these people are; they just have no redeeming qualities. I can't even completely put into words how I feel towards them. Even if the Devils lose in the next round or lose to the Flyers next year, knocking these Flyers fans off their high-horses this year was worth the entire season.

Philly fans are 10x worse that Boston or NY fans.
Yes, Boston and New York fans can be grating too, but look at the success those teams and those cities have achieved in the past 2 decades, Giants and their SB's, Pats too, Red Sox got those two rings, Bruins got their cup, Devils have three cups, one more than the Flyer franchise, and NJ spotted Philly 15 seasons (I don't count the Scouts as the Devils) and the Flyers haven't won jack since Jimmy Carter was ruining this country.
The Sixers haven't won squat in 20 years, Eli Manning has just as many rings in the past five years as the Eagle franchise has SB appearances in their existence. The next Eagle Super Bowl win will be their first.
How's that dream team working out for you guys by the way?
Phillies? You've won two championships in 125 years. TWO !
It's a loser franchise, sure you won in 2008, big whoop, you won 102 games last year, with all that pitching you bought, what happened? You couldn't even get out the NLDS.
Philly, look in the mirror, you got four big time teams in four big time sports, what do you have as far as championships.
One in the last 20 years.
Put it this way, Eli has more championships in the last five years than your sorry ass four teams have won in the last 20 years combined.
Philly fans don't act like they've been there before, they rarely get their to begin with.

I do know the Pats cheated the Eagles out of their superbowl win (and unfortunatly New Orleans is taking Godell's beating for what he should have done to the Pats for THAT scandal) ... In fact the Pats havent advanced SINCE they got caught cheating have they?...oh yeah they beat Tim Tebow last playoffs ... woo hoo.. were BOSTON !!
The Bruins ..... 1st round bye bye this year ... after surviving multiple game 7's last year ... hardly a dominating Cup run was it ??

Our teams are good but never good enough. Philly teams are contenders almost every year and hell even this year with the terrible season the birds had they were still 1 game away from the playoffs. And every single year, year after year Philly fans hang by their teams and never leave them. You said it yourself that our teams never win the big one but every year we continue to sell out our games and stand up for our teams no matter what. Not a lot of cities can say that.

Trust me, I know the sting of a hometown team falling short. You get all amped for a series, you know in your heart you are going to win, it stings when it doesn't happen, been there many times, I have a couple I'll take to my grave, watching the Snakes beat the Yanks in the WS, that one really hurt, watching the Red Sox dance on the Stadium infield in '04 after that comeback series. That one still hurts too.

It really doesn't take that much fact checking to know which teams won championships over the last few years. I'm pretty sure most posters here could do that off the top of their heads. And who cares how many game 7's the Bruins played last year? They won the cup and that is all that matters, and I don't even like the Bruins and I admit that.

Nice Call
I'll be honest I thought the Flyers would prevail in this series but their offense was shutdown completely. I remember writing in this thread that I thought this series went the distance either 6 or 7 games. As a Leafs fan, I'm glad that Philly is out. I would love to see a Devils/Rangers Eastern Conf Finals. Hopefully Brodeur can win another cup and retire like a fukking boss!

People saying I am a homer or that I was dead wrong or didn't know what I was talking about can fukk off.
The Devils won this series because they are allowed to play a defensive system in which they are allowed to lay back and play a trap.
It's takes hockey as a sport back into the fukkin dark ages.
The devils if they played an open style would have got smoked. This is proven by the fact that an offensive juggernaut like Pittsburgh wasn't able to overcome the Flyers.
The hyper defensive systems being played in the NHL right now have wiped out nearly all offensive based hockey teams.
I can't see how this can be viewed as a good thing for the sport. It's basically having 5 defenders on the ice plus a goalie.
That's not hockey and any purist would completely agree with me.
The Flyers are a better team. The Devils, however, play a system that allows them to overcome better talented offensive teams.
Give the Devils credit. Their system overcame a superior team.

You're right, it would've been pretty stupid to play like the Penguins and give up odd-man rushes the whole game. Not sure what your point is here

So some sort of video-game 11-10 final score hockey is what the hockey purists are looking for?

You're right. The Flyers are a better team than what they showed in this series. Something tells me you meant to type "The Flyers are the better team", which is false. So I guess if the Flyers installed a better system they'd win it all. Well, the Flyers have been a preseason Stanley-Cup contender many many times in the last 20 years, with the Legion of Doom line, getting Vanbeezer in net, acquiring Pronger, etc..... and in all this time they haven't figured out all they have to do is change their system? What's taking so long? If I were the Flyers management I'd copy the Devils playbook line for line and start winning Cups!
Or maybe, just maybe, the Flyers really aren't that much better than the Devils.
To be honest it's just fun holding the whole "1975" thing over Flyers' fans' heads, b/c they get so angry about it. But I can't believe they haven't won one Cup since the Lindros years. I'm just gonna enjoy it while I can, b/c all the parity dictates that it'll happen soon enough, they are really too talented to continue failing. But I get another year out of it anyway.
