Thank you Guy & Gal. I had never watched the video nor had I delved that deep into that thread thinking it was all about the exchange, ergo my ignorance on the matter. (Well, until a couple of days ago).

For every person who knew, I'm sure there were many more who didn't so this was still a great heads up considering they're now here at SBR. Even if they weren't, it's always nice to have a Ganchrow thread. Hopefully he pops back on here soon to say hi.

This is the irony to sportsbetting.
I'm nowhere near as "sharp" as Ganchrow, yet basically I'm going heads-up with him. He gets +110 and I get -110. No way I can compete with that. Only a few here can, Durito and 4LC, JJgold, etc.... Not many others. Guys that think they can win long term with these books that employ people that have forgotten more than most of us will ever know are straight up delusional.

There are only so many ways you can express "just pick winners", "bet both sides" and "math doesn't matter".
On the matter of the OP, I wonder what he is actually doing at Heritage. Are they looking to expand their customer base and move away from being a rec/square book?

Good post but you are not exactly going "heads up" with Ganch. More accurately you are playing against the market. Ganch will try to make sure you get a fair market number but he has no personal opinion on 99% of the games.

He has been snooping around. I got a (fairly typical) PM from him not long ago.
where Infinity would be the maximum allowable value for the first argument to CRITBINOM(2^31-2) on my 32-bit machine and with the (1-dVal) in a place as a rough continuity correction-type fudge factor.
Anyway ... just a very casual observation apropos of nothing.

I'm sure you'll be stunned to hear I have no bloody clue wtf that PM means. But thank you... I've been meaning to check if he's popped in lately and I'm happy to see that he has. We're very lucky that he ever was here at all. His "TT threads for dummies" are bookmarked on every computer I have and always will be. Guy is a legend and a sweetheart.

I see they now added dropdown boxes. I feel like I am betting at Pinny again.

I see your point and agree that im not really heads up with ganchrow. But the books business is making money and he's on their side and that scares me. Now, im at odds with the books because my goal is in direct conflict with their goals. So it was a bit simplistic, or even flat out incorrect, to view it as heads up vs. ganchrow but to some degree i think his job is more about making money for the business than giving me a fair number. Maybe an enticing number, yes.
I really dont know much about booking, especially at this grand of a scale, but sure to hell know i dont like that ganchrow is on their team.

the bettor always has the advantage the bookie only gives the bettor the chance to beat themselves, because if the line is accurate you dont have to bet

This is true. I'm happy for Ganch and Heritage here. Gangh is a great person and all about #s not about screwing people.

Wow, nice post dipsh t. Maybe try to have a f cking clue before you publicly embarrass yourself pretending to be someone's best f cking friend.
I guess not much can be expected from a fake bookie scared sh tless of a $500 NFL bet. On average how many $10 parlays does it take for you to afford an 8-ball? A rough estimate is fine...

you aren't going up "against Ganch" you are still just going up against the market as a whole
ganch's main value to Heritage is in risk management

In CR an 8-ball would usually be about $60, and should be relatively high quality unless you are buying from a random cab driver or local scumbag and then who knows what you are getting. You might expect that it would be cheaper, and indeed you can very likely find great deals if you can find a hook, but that is somewhat difficult for a gringo.
In Ecuador, Columbia, places like that, you should be able to get an 8 of pure stuff for $30.
