I agree with you...How can books lose much if they payout most of the losers money
There were many losers for pats, probably more that giant winners. The books shold still be sitting at around 1%+ with the vig

Books got beat. Anytime there is a safety and dog wins outright, books lose. They were betting N.E. 2ND HALF. N.E - 2 AND MONEY LINE WENT FROM -135 TO -160 ON N.E. i watched this at the Hilton. Lines were out the door to collect after the game

Did ANYONE read the article? LOL. Books made a small profit and yet posters are still adamant about books getting killed after the link was posted. The initial safety hurt but they got it all back and then some. Books had great day in props overall and that more than made up for Giants ATS and ML wins.

What about the link to the article about how Books would get killed if the Giants won the SB because of all the futures made on them during the Regular Season? Funny how that disappeared. Now we are supposed to believe that the books made a profit when the public was on the Patriots and the Under, and there was a Safety?

Books never "lose" , but this year certainly wasn't "great" for them. A combination of dogs not barking and public getting smarter was a big reason why. There was no smart or Sharp play yesterday imho. Pats easily could have won that game.

As for yesterdays game I can't imagine the books having a good day. Everybody was on giants +3 & giants ml. The most popular teaser in the world was giants + whatever and under. Depending on what book were talking about and who their players are , I can see some having a very bad day.

Not sure how they claim to be happy with everyone and their mother throwing nickel's and dimes on giants futures. I mean were talking 30-1 , 100-1 here.

Guys once again getting exposed as know nothing idiots.

Books made money yesterday no question. Money was balanced for most of the 2 weeks. Late money came in heavy on the Patriots. Second half money was also all over the Patriots. Props books always win so that is just free money. Total doesnt have enough money bet on it to even calculate.

All the 'winning' numbers both way had HUGE vigs. So if guys werent playing the ML on the Giants they were laying upwards of -125 for +3. Sure it won, but it cushioned the losses alot. When Pats -2.5 came out at a few places it was vig heavy. -125 to -130 guys jumped all over that, it lost. THAT in and of itself got books to at least even maybe even pushed some into the profit margin.

Just because a popular side wins doesnt mean it is a disaster. If guys are laying crazy vig that more than makes up for it, especially when anther crazy vig number that lost get hammered.

There werent a lot of people betting the Giants yesterday, most guys were already in early for what they thought were 'good' numbers. So you wiegh all that early money on the Giants versus the late money on the patriots and I say more money was on Patriots especially at a much more favorable number. The difference between -2.5 and +3 isnt even a question, at least to guys who know what theyre doing.

LT, quit acting like a sheep... if not for Props, damn near every single book in vegas, offshore and local bookie loses... Props, Giants money and Under ruled the board they were the big winners... dont get suckered into believing there was anywhere near the same amount of pats action as the giants...it was lopsided worldwide

The one place I have access to the final numbers to made a profit on day. Not a big one but enough to keep the bosses happy. The safety prop hitting is not that big of a deal. Average bet laid on it is $20. Late Pats ml action and props were huge. Had Welker caught that pass a lot of money would've been paid out on over for his yardage.

It's funny how the line now was "wrong", meanwhile if Welker makes that catch the Pats probably win and cover. Game could have gone either way. Line was fine.

Not many future plays over $100 on Giants at heavy odds. They get offset by all the other teams that didn't win. GB, NYJ, NO, Pitt, Hou, Balt were all bet very big to win it all.

Both books I have connections with made a profit on the game, one of them a healthy profit at that. Mostly due to props but they also got a lot of public money on the Patriots during the last 48 hours.

No they didnt. Most people that bet it got in on a 'bad' number. A lot of people probably didnt even play it because it wasnt that good. It opened +145 most places, it was +125 for two weeks not many guys who bet a lot of money are going to bet a line 20 cents worse than they could have gotten.

Not to mention if you look at yesterday it was STEADY patriots ML money. Line was 139/128 Patriots Yesterday morning, it got all the way to -151/139, closing right bfore kick off at -149/137. So what money they took on the Giants early EASILY got bought back during the day yesterday.

The only 'value' was on the Patriots to most people as everyone liked the Giants but by the time most people got off the pot to make a bet the 'value' was gone on them. Until as I said enough Pats money came in to offer a slightly decent number on the Giants late in the day.

The fact that the EARLY money won was a big positive for the books, early money is a miniscule portion of the Super Bowl handle. Not to mention most of those early numbers are place holders with reduced limits just to help books set the price. So what looks like volume moves to amateurs were more than likely air moves to a better price point.

Either way people will believe what they want. Like I said it is all anecdotal people won so they figured books got crushed. Just another example of a gamblers fallacy.

Many of you guys are really underestimating the square factor of the super bowl (at least in Vegas). In Vegas people were lining up to take Giants ML at +115 on Friday and Saturday. And if the teller is actually telling the square customer you can bet Giants +3 at -130 or Giants ML at +115 which do you really think the public is going to bet??

sports-spy showed giants early money with 70% roughly on the money.line......it was around 58% giants for most of the week before dropping ...to roughly 53%...it's gone from sports-spy, so i cannot give exact figures.....

                                                            Fact!

There were so many factors that favors the Giants. Giants was the best play.

                                                            1. Giants known for road warriors, Patriots are only dependable at home, Giants defeated the Patriots at their home, Super Bowl is on neutral field.

                                                            2. Tom Brady and the Patriots are 0-3 ATS as favorites at the super bowl. Now 0-4 ATS.

                                                            3. Patriots main receiver Gronkowski has an ankle injury, Giants has the addition with Nicks WR and Bradshaw RB which they didn't have when the Giants won 24, Patriots 20 in the regular season at Patriots home.

But I am surprised that the Giants did not win by at least a touchdown 7 points with these factors, it was still a close game.
