Many on the Palms play are missing out on a way to increase the play by 0.50%........................and that is by using the 3X play coupon in the ACG book.................................got lucky and nailed four royals in a nine-hour span and netted around $4,000 on the play..................and hopefully it also increased my mail offers in the process.
We got an email last week how Caesars busted 4 people who were conning others into playing the ultimate x and would wait for the multiplier to show up for the next hand. They would proceed to tell them the machine was cold and to cash out. Then their accomplice would put in money and get to take a shot with the multiplier. The best part is all 4 people played dumb and claimed not to know one another. 2 females were sisters. 1 guy was married to 1 sister and the 2nd guy was a friend. All had the same address in Vegas on their licenses. Dummies.
I heard Cannery is going to get real aggressive in their vp marketing for 2012.

Is Fishhead JJGold shift 2?
FWIW, I have no opinion on Fishead, he's entertainment. I LOVE his thread about Bingo being +EV. Is it true? No idea, but it take a level of degenerateness to even find out.
As for winning in slots.... I highly doubt that. Anyone who plays slots consistently knows it's as profitable as a pinball machine. Sometimes I play to kill time before games and I'd say 1 out of 3 time I break even. So, 2 out of 3 times I lose money.
I talked to a guy who programmed slots and VP and he says he already knows how much you'll lose before you even sit down. I mean, it's so obvious, they don't even try to cover that it's rigged. People are that dumb.
I don't understand how people put $100 into a slot machine?
As for being a profitable gambler, well... my bookie knows and if I have to report my winnings this year, I might post it on SBR for bragging rights. But half the sh*t you read on SBR (including mine) is nothing but pure garbage. <---- sharpest post of the year.

Maybe he did but it is hard to believe when he touts a side and then posts after the game was over how he had other side.
He claimed to hit a 6k jp at a casino and it never happened. When called on it he now claims the 6k was just his cut. Hopefully Yisman or Martin dig up the thread so I can get the date again. Will ask a friend to give me a hit sheet of all progressives over 6k and see if anything is there.
I wish FH nothing but luck in his gambling.
Not unusual to team play progressives...

Have a very good connection/association to some of the best in this business and there is still decent coin to be made.................................... in fact, (and notice how I'm not charging for this information), there is a nice relatively low risk promo currently taking place at THE PALMS that is worth a minimum $55 an hour to even the semi-savvy professional.
Too bad they took out their FPDW bank (along with some other +EV VP games)...

::
The programmer is giving you a broad stroke picture of a slot machine. He does not know how much you will lose by sitting down. A regular reel slot machine will have different chips that a casino can select to install. The chip will be set to a certain hold % over an extended period of time. Let's just say a regular reel machine is set to hold 5%. All that means is over the long term the house should expect to keep 5% of all money cycled through machine. Of course there are variances. A machine could be holding 20% because it has only been on the floor for a short period of time or people aren't betting max credits so certain symbols aren't active for pay(look at a Ballys blazing 7 machine where the 7's aren't active unless you bet more than 1 credit). Then you have the opposite variance where a machine could be in the negative. A volitile game like 10x could be hit for 50k real quick after being put on floor and take awhile to get back to the 5% range. Video slots have a much higher hold % for house. It is why you see the floors covered with them. Usually hold 11 to 16%. Casinos love these games. Especially penny denom. The average player is betting a few bucks per spin on a penny machine to get to some dumb bonus round that will pay $50 if you are lucky. Video poker is simple. The pay table is right on the machine. Using simple math you can determine your expected ev based off of that and your skill level. The average vp machine will hold 4% for house and quite often 2% in the higher denoms due to player skill. That is why you see the gimmick vp games like super times and dream card. They require higher bet amounts and hold close to 8%.
So your friend gave you cliff notes. The numbers he is talking about are long term, not a short session. The house only cares about long term win if they want to stay solvent.

No slot machine is set below 85% return legally in Nevada. "Video slots" don't implicitly have a higher hold. LOWER DENOMINATIONS have a higher hold (most "video slots" are penny machines) since the amount of coin in on an average spin is typically lower.

And calculating a VP paytable is NOT "simple math." It requires running through every possible hand combination, calculating the optimal hold for each of those hands, and summing up the collective expected return.

Ummmm......you can find $1 video slots that are holding over 15% at every casino. They are likely set to an 11.5% Theo but are running bad for player and video slots do implicitly have a higher theo hold than traditional reels regardless of denom. Your point about coin in volume is not as valid as it used to be. Players will sit on a penny video slot and switch it to nickel or dime and max bet it to $10 a spin.
As for the ultimate x scam, operators didn't catch the scamming potential when machines were put out onto floor. A few months in and it got some attention. Just funny that people actually got pinched for it.
The problem with slots now is they are so high tech and with all the bonus rounds and wild symbols they get too confusing for players and employees. Gaming control is so short staffed that if a machine meets minimum requirements they approve it. Casino puts them on floor without explaining nuances to staff. I've been out of slots for a few years and was looking at some of the new Williams and Bally machines. When you have to go through 5 screens on how the game pays it is not good for the industry.

Get the app that lets you put in pay table and game. You will have your ev in seconds. All of it is moot unless you play near perfect strategy and that is no simple task for a beginner.
Based off your posts I know you can walk through a casino and find a decent machine based off pay table.

LOL. "Current" hold is completely insignificant. Theoretical hold is the only thing that matters.
Pretty sure that manufacturers don't even allow machines to be set below 85% legitimately.

Machines aren't set any lower than 85% outside of tribal casinos. Current hold is certainly not completely insignificant. Try selling that bullshit to Wall St when reporting quarterly earnings now. A certain public traded casino used to have their stock effected based off a single player who wagered millions on those dumb video reel machines at $1000 a spin. Now if the machine was holding 16% in actual hold for the financial quarter with a theo of 11% the quarterly earnings will be spun by the p.r. guy as being "higher than anticipated hold in gaming area." In the long run theo is everything but with the Wall St Vegas machines don't usually see a long enough lifespan for it to truly matter. Poor performers get removed or converted instead of being given the chance to get back to the mean because execs don't have the luxury of waiting it out. Finance always sweats the money.

Well, yeah. Obviously, it matters to the casino. However, from the player's perspective, it means nothing.

True.............but they have TEN-PLAY 9/6 JACKS or BETTER
99.50% 9/6 JOB + 00.33 for CASH PROMO + 00.08 for GREEN BACKS + 00.75 for SLOT CARD =
100.66% TOTAL RETURN
TEN-PLAY JOB $12.50 hand times 600 hands per hour = $7500 per hour in ACTION....................
$7500 X .66 = 49.50 per hour...............PLUS MAILERS..............
VERY GOOD, NOT GREAT PLAY.
There are acutally a few other machines that pay a higher PER HOURLY but result in more swings of the bankroll.
In the above scenario, it is also a good idea be friends with a long standing host at that casino one is attacking, or even a brand new host......................a CASINO HOST can AND will provide even more gravy to an already +EV play with many additional benefits.
