It didn't take a genius to figure out what side to be on when lyon needed to make up +7 to qualify. Also Considering zagreb were the worst team in CL this year and conceded 15 goals in their past 5 games.

Just playing devil's advocate here but if Lyons needed to make up 7 goals, isn't it logical to assume that Ajax was going to pack their defense in tight and do everything in their power to slow the game down? Obviously Lyons was going to do everything in their power to open the game up but who says they had to be the ones to win the battle of pace pregame? The one thing you are correct about is that I'm an American who doesn't know much about soccer however I can usually spot a Monday morning quarterback from a mile away.
