Is there not some sort of law where if you're told of possible abuse, and have a bloody tape recorded conversation, that you have to at least tell the police so they can investigate? It's not like this was some gossip story about if Shaq was f'ing Kobe's wife so ESPN decided to bin it because there wasn't any proof. ESPN and his wife need to go down too.Comment -

So... many of us were crucifying JoePa and McQ for not doing what was morally right (myself included). Shouldn't a bloody massive TV network at least turn something like that over to the cops to check out? Not saying the outcome would've been different but now ESPN smells too considering how much they've blasted Paterno. We can speculate here now on how many more people were abused after 2003 when they were first told.Comment -
ESPN has had the tape since 2003 but didn't think enough of it to go to the authorities. Instead they wait until they can make a story out of it, even waiting another week after they first came out with the story to release the tape. They don't care about the right thing to do, just want a story.Comment -
Oh and someone had the conversation before 2003 because Fine's wife confirmed to the Syracuse paper in 2002 that it was her on the recordings but said some parts were doctored. 2002 isn't 2011 but the technology was still there to figure out in an hour if anyone tampered with that recording to splice together her comments or whatever it is she's claiming.Comment -

A prison inmate who was one of four men to accuse a former Syracuse University assistant basketball coach of sexual abuse when they were children has admitted that he made up his claim.
The accuser, Floyd VanHooser, wrote in a letter that he lied to police and in December interviews with The Associated Press and The Post-Standard newspaper of Syracuse. He said he wanted to get back at the coach, Bernie Fine, because Fine did not hire a lawyer to help VanHooser fight a criminal conviction.
Fine had helped raise the 56-year-old VanHooser after his parents died.
So here's Liar #1. Not saying the other dudes aren't truthful, but no one brings this back up to show what a scumbag the alleged accuser is for doing what he did.Comment -

Since this gets buried on like Page 7 of most websites when it was Page 1 burial material when it came out. Today, it was announced that NO CHARGES were being filed against Fine. That means he was found 100% not guilty.

Tomaselli was an absolute scumbag looking to get something out of it. Lied about accusations. Said he lied and then made the accusations again. Never know about the first two accusations, but the two who came forward after were liars from the get-go which makes you go back and wonder if everyone wasn't lying. That last accusation was clearly bogus from the start. But that doesn't mean the totally spearate allegations from the 70's to 90's, which were reported a decade earlier, were false. It's just that he could never be charged with these because they're way past the statute of limitation. So there was nothing to investigate further. My bet is it's true.Comment -

They ransacked his house, took all his documents and computers. They found zero evidence of child pornography. You would think a child predator for 20+ years would have some evidence besides the word of two people, who quite frankly aren't all there in the head. With only just hearing the recording, it almost sounded like the wife didnt like him at all and was trying to get revenge for something. Especially since the victim and her were boning. Just my .02 but idk seems like maybe they were trying to penetrate him over.Comment -
