And actually, I think Syracuse did exactly what you are saying they "should" be doing...they stood by him before the real "hard" evidence was released...they didn't just pull the trigger last week when this all hit the "public eye" as you said...they stood by him...but, when the evidence got too deep, obviously, when this tape was released...they made a good business decision and cut ties.
I'd argue they actually did what you are saying they should be doing...but again, it seems like you haven't heard the tape!? Syracuse did, and they came to the only logical conclusion...time to fire this guy.
Agree.

the people that say fine should not have been fired prematurely.....
DO YOU LISTEN TO YOURSELF?
so what you are saying is that they should allow a documented child molester to be around children??? I cannot understand how your brain works

i'd guess they're wondering if fine's wife is lying. she was banging the kid after all. there's been crazier shlt than to have a cheating wife and her lover lie about her husband. might not be likely here, but still possible.

I see Boeheim has made a statement now to cover his tracks after his initial strong support for Fine. Smart move finally.

he made the statement as soon as the voicemail came out and this Davis kid accepted it as a positive last night
that's when he said he didn't know if boeheim saw him in the room....even though the kid was insisting that boeheim saw him in the room a week ago
with the right pr spin boeheim can come out of this looking like a victim

Is there not some sort of law where if you're told of possible abuse, and have a bloody tape recorded conversation, that you have to at least tell the police so they can investigate? It's not like this was some gossip story about if Shaq was f'ing Kobe's wife so ESPN decided to bin it because there wasn't any proof. ESPN and his wife need to go down too.

ESPN first listened to the tape something like EIGHT YEARS AGO.
Meanwhile some at ESPN sit on their high horse and say everyone from Paterno and beyond should be culpable for endangering kids.

The guy gave them the recorded conversation in 2003.
So... many of us were crucifying JoePa and McQ for not doing what was morally right (myself included). Shouldn't a bloody massive TV network at least turn something like that over to the cops to check out? Not saying the outcome would've been different but now ESPN smells too considering how much they've blasted Paterno. We can speculate here now on how many more people were abused after 2003 when they were first told.

ESPN has had the tape since 2003 but didn't think enough of it to go to the authorities. Instead they wait until they can make a story out of it, even waiting another week after they first came out with the story to release the tape. They don't care about the right thing to do, just want a story.

Amazing that it took SBR to tell me anything about this case yet good old Walt Disney didn't share this one on the int'l newswire.
Wow.

Oh and someone had the conversation before 2003 because Fine's wife confirmed to the Syracuse paper in 2002 that it was her on the recordings but said some parts were doctored. 2002 isn't 2011 but the technology was still there to figure out in an hour if anyone tampered with that recording to splice together her comments or whatever it is she's claiming.

So much for everyone convicting Fine without any evidence ...
Rivals is the best resource for recruiting and high school sports. Find all of your favorite team's information or browse our advanced player database.
A prison inmate who was one of four men to accuse a former Syracuse University assistant basketball coach of sexual abuse when they were children has admitted that he made up his claim.
The accuser, Floyd VanHooser, wrote in a letter that he lied to police and in December interviews with The Associated Press and The Post-Standard newspaper of Syracuse. He said he wanted to get back at the coach, Bernie Fine, because Fine did not hire a lawyer to help VanHooser fight a criminal conviction.
Fine had helped raise the 56-year-old VanHooser after his parents died.
So here's Liar #1. Not saying the other dudes aren't truthful, but no one brings this back up to show what a scumbag the alleged accuser is for doing what he did.
District Attorney William Fitzpatrick says Zach Tomaselli told police the Syracuse University coach molested him in Connecticut, and later changed the location to Pittsburgh.

Since this gets buried on like Page 7 of most websites when it was Page 1 burial material when it came out. Today, it was announced that NO CHARGES were being filed against Fine. That means he was found 100% not guilty.
Federal authorities have dropped their investigation into one of the sexual abuse claims that cost a Syracuse University assistant basketball coach his job, threw a top-ranked team into turmoil and threatened the career of Hall of Fame coach Jim Boeheim.

Two men accused him of molesting them but the abuse was outside the statue of limitations so there were no charges. He was apparently cleared from a third accusation by someone else.

He was cleared from the third by the man who accused him and admitted he lied. It's all been a bunch of BS from the beginning but you won't see a big story on ESPN with the truth since they're the ones who spread the lies from the start.

Tomaselli was an absolute scumbag looking to get something out of it. Lied about accusations. Said he lied and then made the accusations again. Never know about the first two accusations, but the two who came forward after were liars from the get-go which makes you go back and wonder if everyone wasn't lying. Terrible situation altogether.

That last accusation was clearly bogus from the start. But that doesn't mean the totally spearate allegations from the 70's to 90's, which were reported a decade earlier, were false. It's just that he could never be charged with these because they're way past the statute of limitation. So there was nothing to investigate further. My bet is it's true.

He and JoePa both should not have been fired until the facts come out, paid leave while an internal investigation happens. Both would likely win a wrongful termination/slander suit.

They ransacked his house, took all his documents and computers. They found zero evidence of child pornography. You would think a child predator for 20+ years would have some evidence besides the word of two people, who quite frankly aren't all there in the head. But, bet on their word over evidence, that's intelligent.

With only just hearing the recording, it almost sounded like the wife didnt like him at all and was trying to get revenge for something. Especially since the victim and her were boning. Just my .02 but idk seems like maybe they were trying to penetrate him over.
