Like Miss St. to keep it close, but they have 2 starting o-lineman hurt. Played the under and LSU in the 1st half.
Unreal betting disparity on LSU game

#37Originally posted by boneheaded1Solid strategy jbatcha. I've already got that exact ml parlay. Also have it with some extra college favorite ml added on. Also, I got the LSU in a 4 game teaser (see my thread, "nothing big but I like this play")
Yea, I would like to throw in some college ML's also but my local bookie's site doesn't put up college ML's until the day of the game. The LSU ML isn't even up yet. It sucks but there is also some good things about his site. Like on Monday I was able to take Jason Campbell to throw under 5 TDs for -195. I dropped 350 on it and won 180.Comment -

#47Hey Profane in this case yes. I'll argue with you. Just because the public is on a line hard and the books don't adjust doesn't always mean the public is wrong. Books are not always right.

Besides, it was obvious what was going on. This was the "free rock" from the books. That free taste to get you hooked. Get people thinking, I beat the books and I can do it again. This game will generate more action for them in the future than if they had adjusted the line to compensate for heavy LSU action.

Yeah, and the line basically never moved and there was a lot of action on this game.
The classic view of the book is that they're trying to get equal money on both sides.
I'm not sure I believe it anymore.
If you think about it, that's a great PR line for the books. "Hey we don't care who wins, we
just want money on both sides." That sounds great to a bettor -- it makes it sounds like the
bettor has the same information as the book.
Yet, I've seen a lot of games in the last few years where the line could have been moved
to even out the money and it wasn't.
Obviously, the books that it was a better play to leave the line as it is.Comment -

#50This sounds like 20/20 hindsight, were you or anyone saying this before the game? I mean, are the books really working as a cabal and playing psychological games with the public on this one game? Wouldn't there be a book or two that would adjust their line to Miss St +5 1/2 or 6 and take all the free Miss. St money if this was the case? Then send someone over to all the other books and take some free money playing LSU.Originally posted by boneheaded1 Besides, it was obvious what was going on. #51Sometimes, the public IS right.
Sometimes, games ARE over-analyzed.
The basic pieces were all there to make the right call (LSU).
I am not in any way, shape, or form an LSU fan. And, even before last night, I am not looking forward to playing them later.
I might subconsciously have bet them in hopes they WOULD lose (the way my luck usually runs).
But no matter, LSU WAS the right call last night.Comment -
