Let me ask you this... if you are one of the saints coaches (idk why you would take that job though. the bears would obviously spot your talent and snatch you up) Anyway.. if times were tough and you were.. and you had problems in those areas last week. Isn't it possible that you might want to change things up? it's possible that knowing the Bears, with that magical and mysterious defense coming to town, the Saints may try and mix things up a bit to try and bridge the enormous gap. If for some reason they do that, I suppose three more days might be helpful in doing so. I think we both know the bears are like 99.9% to win this... duh... but things like this may be what people might mean when they say things like... "a bad spot".
Do you have a tool for measuring this? Wasn't there a question about that with the Bears Qb.. it may have been around the playoffs.. Is that sorted out now?Comment -

What's important in betting is matchups, talent, effort level, etc...
Do you have a tool for measuring this?
yea it's called eyes. The bears pursuit and all around effort is incredible on defense, special teams and offense. This team's personnell is average to below average at absolute best and they have been one of the best teams in football last 2 yearsComment -

#112Brian Urlacher may miss Sunday's game against the Saints due to a family emergency. (Tribune photo)
Tribune Staff 11:49 a.m. CDT, September 14, 2011
Brian Urlacher rushed out of town Tuesday to attend to a family emergency in Arizona involving his mother, the Tribune has learned.
Urlacher is expected to be away from the Bears for several days and his status for Sunday’s game against the Saints is unclear. Teammates, the coaching staff and members of the front office are aware of Urlacher’s situation but no further information was available Tuesday night.Comment -

#113Saints are too explosive of an offense. Bears have good defense, but Brees does well even against good defense.Comment -

#114the saints had just 2 sacks last week and 1.5 of them were by safeties and linebackers (basically tells you that they have to blitz to get any pressure on the QB and that is a deadly recipe to get dominated through the air in modern day NFL). I mean yea the bears gave up 4 sacks last week but that was against a good defensive line of the falcons led by john abraham. The saints don't have anybody to get to the QB like abraham does
And I don't understand how anyone thinks this isn't a bad matchup for the Bears. Cutler got sacked 52 times last season and threw 16 interceptions in 15 games (5 sacks & 1 interception last week). The Saints have a very good secondary that will be able to control the Bears receivers, and NO will pressure Cutler all game long, collecting no less than 3-4 sacks. Brees will be able to pick apart the Bears secondary.
Finally, the Bears are coming off a big home win while the Saints are coming off a very tough loss to the SB champs in which they played extremely well, falling just short on the final play of the game. This disappointment followed a shortened offseason where Brees established an intense practice regimen geared towards pushing the Saints back up to the level at which they played two seasons ago. This is a team that has the tools to return to the superbowl and in their home opener, they will play at a very high intensity level.Comment -

#115All signs points NO, so no way I'm playing this game.
The Bears are better than people give them credit for. They DID get to the Championship for the NFC last year.
I kinda like them points, myself.Comment -

#116This is true. The Saints rely on the blitz a lot to put pressure on the opposing QB. However, Cutler is NOT a top tier QB (Bears ranked 28th in passing last year) while the Saints have a top 5 defense against passing despite their heavy usage of the blitz. On the ground, Chicago's rush is not particularly strong (although I love Forte). On the other end, New Orleans features a top 5 passing offense while Chicago's secondary is average. If Brees can throw for 419 yards against a top 5 GB secondary, then the Bears will have a hard time stopping him.

This year the receivers are more familiar with the martz system and running their routes, there will be less confusion and more receivers getting open. Cutler has a multitude of targets to choose from including his new TE's. Bears fans will tell you that the offense has looked very good thus far in week 1 and the pre-season. Quotes from guys like Forte, Earl Bennett and Jay will back up how confident they are in the offense this season.Comment -

#117Here's why last years interceptions are not indicative of what will happen this year: Jays mechanics have changed. He came to camp 15 pounds lighter and with improved mechanics that made Martz "giddy". He no longer throws off his back foot. Most of last years interceptions came from throwing to one guy: Johnny Knox. Knox is notorious amongst Bears fans for being easily pushed around and not fighting for the ball.

#118Yep. In Week 1, Cutler spread the ball around to everyone. It made the Falcons defense unsure of how to defend.
Cutler threw to Forte 5 times, Knox 3 times, Hester 3 times, Roy 4 times, K.Davis 2 times, Bennett 2 times, Spaeth 2 times, Sanzenbacher 1 time
Very balanced attack. Notice he basically has 5 WR's to throw to and he hits them all, he also throws to Forte the RB and two TE's. So he's got a lot of optionsComment -

jesus christ how can there be so many retarded people in one thread?
the bears never lose by that much u idiot
they lost 1 game last year by more than 14 points (a game in a blizzard against the patriots) and just 2 games by more than 7 points
I love all these people with these wild blowout predictions against a team that always wins or loses very close. The saints aren't even all that good either. No pass rush, no running game and a secondary that played terrible in week 1

The more i look at it the more I think that Saints -7 is a sucker bet just like the Atlanta favorite. Saints are 0-4 against the Bears and in those 4 games Brees threw 7 touchdowns and got picked 6 times with a passer rating of 77.Comment -
