#37This is a tired thread.
But since I'm tired, I'll add that 13 of the Bruins' 14 forwards are Canadians (minus Krejci). 2 of them (Recchi and Lucic) are B.C. boys.
Nobody wants to claim Luongo though.
If Luongo were the Dos Equis Guy (Most Interesting Man in the World), he'd say: "I don't always blow easy saves, but when I do, I prefer it to be in the Stanley Cup Finals..."
who gives a damn about all this canada vs usa bs? I would have liked to see the Canucks win but at the same time, how can anyone not be HAPPY for the Bruins? Specially Tim Thomas.Comment -

#481st off i would think you would be hard pressed to find that many Americans (outside of Bos) that give a flying fuk who won the Stanley cup. Sure the Americans that won betting Bos are happy but still doubt they really care. 2nd all i saw since the game was over is Canadian posters claiming the cup is theirs cause the majority of the Bruins are Canadian, of coarse failing to mention the guy that won the series is American.
3rd. America is no different than anywhere else, way more dumbfuks than not. With some of the Canadian post around here im thinking Canadians as a whole dont got much room to call any other country Dumb.Comment -

#49Unless the Boston Bruins are really the "BOSTON AMERICANS" representing the US in an international tournament against other nations, the US didn't win the Stanley Cup last night.
However, after reading this:
A report released Tuesday by an educational advocacy group founded by retired general and former Bush administration Secretary of State Colin Powell finds that almost half of all public high school students in the US’ fifty largest cities fail to graduate.
it all makes sense now.
If you can show me where "USA" is inscribed on the Stanley Cup instead of "Boston Bruins", I will show you a fvcking unicorn.
yes, most of the players are Canadian. However, since the Bruins team is from Boston, the team represents the city of boston. Yes, they have players from Germany, Chechoslovakia, Canada, and USA. But the team is still a Boston team. Thus, even though the players have Canadian heritage, they are still representing boston every time they play. Their jersey says boston on it. Thus, since they represent in city of boston, they are a boston team. Boston is in America.
Sure, the players might not all be American. They are mostly canadian, but also german (seidenberg) and chechoslovakian (chara). However, because the team is a boston team, it represents boston when it plays. Since boston is in the United States.... that's why they feel its US v. Canada.
They aren't talking about the heritage of players when they say that US won. They are saying the city of boston won. Since the city of boston is in America, people feel that America won.
I don't even think people wanted boston to win because of the usa v. canada issue. Partly, yes. But i think people were just sick of this whimpy, complaining, embelishing, diving, biting, hair pulling canucks team. How can you root for a team like that?
I'll sum it up one last time. Boston is in America, so thats why people feel america. Yes, most of the players are not from boston. However, they still represent Boston when they play. Boston is in America, last time i checked. If it isn't, i don't know why the IRS forces me to pay these high federal income taxes to the United States every year.
And i also think people are tired of the arrogant canadian attitude that they "own" the sport of hockey. So, that's probably why they might root for the Canadian team to lose.Comment -

#50I´m not taking any sides here, but of course the US won the Stanely Cup. I haven´t been in the US for a few years, but I think Boston is still in the US, therefore they represent the US. The Vancouver Chokenucks failed to win the cup for Canada. Canadian teams fail to win the cup for Canada for almost 20 years now. Now, if somehow reading the World Socialist Website makes you feel better, that´s OK.Comment -

#51Im not sure what sparked this whole pissing contest, but i would imagine it was either a bunch of idiots from America trying to get a reaction from the Canadians by rubbing the Bruins win in, or a bunch of idiots from Canada that actually think that America is celebrating "Their hockey win over Canada".
I live in America, there are alot of great people, I also have a good bit of friends from Canada and they are great people too. For the Americans who havent been to Canada, or really know anybody there, dont let a few idiotic internet posters to influence your perception of an entire country.
The sad part is that America doesnt really care about Hockey. Football is the main focus, then Baseball/Basketball take a backseat, depending on where your from. Hockey is far behind those. Most Americans could not tell you the last two Stanley Cup winners let alone that the NHL was founded in Canada. Thats not a matter of poor education as you put it, its just a "Sorry hockey, were just not that into you" sorta deal. I like Hockey, I played in middle school, then i moved to a city where it wasnt available and switched to lacrosse. I think, if they made another Might Ducks movie, then another young generation would be interested in Hockey again.Comment -

The USA did not win the Stanley Cup. The USA does not have a team in the NHL. Countries, which don't actually have teams in the NHL, cannot win the Stanley Cup.
Boston, and not the USA, won the Stanley Cup. An American city with a team in the NHL won the Stanley Cup. Does this make sense to you? If you deny of this, you're defying basic elementary logic and this world will never have a use for you.
As for "USA" winning the 1992 and 1993 World Series, again, you defy basic logic by saying that. The city of Toronto, which has a team in the MLB, won the World Series those years.
Do you not understand that it is impossible for nations to win Stanley Cups, World Series titles and Vince Lombardi trophies? Nations compete against each other in the olympics.
If you're going to reply back, please have your words make sense.Comment -

Did you know that a high school diploma is a prerequisite to pursue further education? Would that be considered an incentive? What about learning basic reading, writing and English skills for communication in order to have the tools to communicate with other people around you?
Let me guess, you don't have a high school diploma?Comment
