The heat - could have contributed. With young horses you don't know how they are going to handle it. Sometimes achy older horses like it, as it warms the pain out of them.
But most of all the lack of training due to the quarter crack.
Here's the bottom line: DUTROW WOULD NEVER HAVE BOUGHT THIS HORSE, OR ANY HORSE, BACK IN SUCH A SHORT TIME FROM EVEN A MINOR QC, IF IT WASN'T FOR A CHANCE AT THE TRIPLE CROWN AND RACING IMMORTALITY.
For those who are looking for someone to blame for the loss, Mr Dutrow is the perfect candidate. And the starstruck owners for believing him that he could run this marathon with the injury and short training time.
And, btw, what the hell are the supposed shart 'cappers on this board doing betting such a heavy heavy odds on fave?
