true about RI..but PETA shut down racing in MA-NH and maybe CT...yes, all the kennels moved south and there still plenty of tracks to bet on. but for how much longer...but what is certain that slots are the biggest rip off in gambling history. but people want instant gratification so they flock to it just like scratch off cards opposed to lottery numbers being drawn...they cannot wait for those numbers to be drawn so they let themselves get fished in on scratch tickets...a sucker born every minute...
Offshore betting is getting worse and more worrisome, join the US horseplayer club

#37Byeshea- I have been playing for years and I know where your experience is coming from and agree many portray it that way but personally from my experience nd getting o know a fe people who do well have learned the gloom and doom is far overestimated and it is a great game to play if you play with care and take advantage of everything available.
gafl- I am with you, the takeout needs to be lowered and a new class of horseplayer needs to join in to preserve the sport. he casinos are in it to cut out racing eventually and without some resistance they will likely succeed. People who enjoy the ponies should enlighten non players to the positives and excitement of the game and help them find a way in the door.
snowball- I believe betptc.com (premeir turf club) covers dogs and offer good rebates to players, not sure if they have video for the pups so keeping betamerica active would be a good idea if you do try out PTC. I def agree the dogs are a blast as well but the current state of the sport makes it very difficult to get any liquidity and are not even available to me through the adw;s that operate in VA. When I go to Charles town in WV I always enjoy the dog simulcasts though.
unusial- Could not agree more and I think that people should try out the ponies and experience hitting a few big exotics and never worrying about their funds. Horseracing is like piecing together a puzzle and when it comes together it can be a blast and make you some money at the same time. Just because the local track degen says it is unbeatable and crooked does not mean it is. The millions bet into the game daily show many people know and enjoy the game and think it is worthy of their wagering bucks. The game needs new players that will come in and learn to enjoy it while letting tracks know they need to lower takeout to raise handle and add more players.Comment -

#38I agree that the takeouts in horse racing is too much. I do think that they would be better off if the did have slots and poker at all race tracks. They need to really think about reducing the takeouts at all race tracks that have slots. I can easily see the race tracks and casinos having a merger in one way or another in the future.Comment -

#41These offshore outfits are straight crooks, they want you to lose and go to great lengths to make sure you do. They smile in your face while they find ways to make you give up your cash and then the chance you win they make it as hard as possible to collect with delays and fees. We have a legal option in the US where they WANT YOU TO WIN! They take a percent out of the pools and every dollar you wager means they make more money, obviously the more you win the more likely you are to bet more and thus raise their revenue. You can deposit instantly for FREE from a bank account and take your winnings for FREE back to your account funds often hitting next day! No bounced checks or non english speaking reps. You have wagering options from 7am est-1am est daily every 10 minutes or less. You have FREE video of the races and if you bet a very small amount bottom line per month you have free access to any and all handicapping materials. Also many many sites will give you rebates on your wagers most states being eligible for 3-7% back of what you bet win or lose! There are people who push big money through and break even or even lose a few percent and still make 10's of thousands a year just off rebates. A few even clear a million a year just in rebates obviously they are not the common man and do this with vast hours of computer models and programs etc. The point is there is an option where you are welcomed, treated fairly, receive services and rebates for free win or lose and have unlimited action at your fingertips. Xpressbet, twinspires, horseplayersbet, betamerica and best of all betPTC etc. all great sites which reward players want your biz, want you to win and offer you piece of mind. They all also offer some type of bet $100 get $100 free type offer for new accounts. More people should give the game a try. It takes time to learn and can be intimidating at first but there really is no better gambling game in the world. Everyday you get numerous +300, 500, 1200 betting interests that are SOLID and in a sporting event would be -150 or even money. Most people talk about how hard it is to win at the races and that is because they bet 10 races an hour every hour and they would lose at any gambling venture. Pick your spots learn the game and never worry about your money. If you bet 20k a month in wagers and break even in most states you will still be profiting at least $600 in rebates from the sites. In VA I get stiffed because of source market fees but still get back a few hundred a month in rebates whether I win that month or not. Think about it and give t a try, you really have nothing to lose at most sites because as I said they will match your initial deposit win or lose with no rollover or bs shold or stipulations.
when it comes to baseball totals your % has always been higher than 65% from what ive seen on here
you will NEVER beat horses
offshore is dying for the US player but sports betting is still a gamblers best shot and always will be
trust me I know all about the horse racing game...unless you're at Del Mar live in the summer time admiring the 'view' dont bet horses
tainted industry ran by crooks who are protected by laws
you think its a fluke that sports betting is only allowed in one state?Comment -

GMB- If there was an option where I could play baseball totals and never experience any problems geting money out or not have to pay massive fees or wait forever for the funds to arrive I would be still highly involved in that type pf gambling. Don't get me wrong I still play them because I can make money on it but with all the trouble and shit involved with the offshore industry over the past 2 years it is not something I care to lay any type of serious $ in. Clearly sports is the best opportunity to win but after you have an account or 2 seized/confiscated and pay $100 for a fast withdrawal is the horse takeout really any larger than the cost of doing biz with sportsbooks? My whole point is that I enjoy horse racing, it gives you piece of mind with your funds, there is non stop action, it is chsallenging and entertaining and with the way the offshore industry is heading I reccomend a few more people get involved with learning and trying out some races. Not many will win long term in horses or sports but that does not mean it is impossible and tight smart alert players can do ok.Comment -

at least you know IF you win you will get paid and not dicked around
I left offshore about a year ago...when Bookmaker started slow paying
thats when I knew offshore was on life support
horse racing is ok if you can keep it recreational...but $100 is like $10 at the track
food for thoughtComment -

#44UIGEA, Poker seizures, now domain seizures..... the days of the offshore book or getting shorter. Heavy players will always be accomodated and the game will survive but it won't be worth the hardship. If you are playing for fun, like action or looking to unlock the secrets to +ev there is a place for you playing the ponies on a legal USA site betting a 1 -thousands risk free. Come one come all to an ADW like twinspires, xpressbet, tvg, horseplayersbet, betptc ect.Comment -

#46Got involved in reading this old thread while trying to find other info... just wondering with the time that has passed if many of its contributors still hold theie same opinions expressed back in April/May 2011. Horse racing is my favorite betting opportunity. Unfortunately, I live in a state where online horse, harness and dog betting is illegal. I would love to have the options of betting at BetAmerica, TwinSpires, XpressBet, etc... but those are options I do not have. Instead, I'm stuck with betting at a not too convenient OTB. Are the hassles and risks of betting offshore so prevalent and routine that it's better to pass on offshore and stick with the OTB? Would be a whole lot more fun and convenient to bet online and from home.Comment -

#54Yes, 5 Dimes/SportBet look good with their added 10%. But, there are posts here on SBR that complain they are slow pay. And, that's the big issue for me in terms of offshore in general... regularly running into problems withdrawing money and receiving payouts. I am leaning toward Legends and have an unfunded account there because they seem to generally be a decent operation with very few complaints and controversy.Comment -

#55I have said this before but for people who want to play horses offshore make sure you look at there max payouts.
They cap payouts at a certain $$ amount, offshore books do NOT pool the money they book the bets themself so if you get lucky and hit a superfecta that pays 20K your not gonna get that full amount.
So best thing to do if you cant use a legal ADW is check the books max pay on races.Comment -

#59Thanks, but you can't do either of those... plus BetAmerica, XPressBet, MyRaceBet, IdaBet or any other U.S. Based betting service from Arizona. AZ is one of about 17 states that have restrictions against online horse betting. Most of these USA services prevent you from even signing up for a free account when their site detects that you are in one of the restricted states.Comment
