The horse finished 2nd. Broke both front ankles. It was euthenized on the track.

Yeah, me as well. I bet many exactas with Barbaro. When it first happened I was was pissed. Then I felt like a cunt for being mad.
When I was younger I would be pissed if a horse broke down. Now I really feel for the horse.

I thought you lived in New Hope.
Just kidding! Thanks, I corrected it.
Let me ask you a question about something I never understood. South Philly, Cherry Hill, Pensuken. How is this called S. Jersey when S. Jersey is Cape May?

There is a stigma about New Hope being a gay destination.

I don't have a problem w/ homosexuals at all unless they are all up on me. Hey I would hang out at Studio Six in AC at times.

These guys don't care they just "euthanize" them on the track and get another horse for the next race...

Horrible it happened to such a great horse too, a great competitor, any loss of life is usually sad but certain losses from humans/animals that put it all out there is more deeply felt

It was the humane thing to do at the time.

Sure it was humane, I don't disagree and they were left with no other choice....
But what is the point of racing horses other than for people's amusement? So that they can bet on them? These are living creatues and entitled to live with dignity and freedom. That horse would have lived another 20-25 years if it wasn't forced to race today. A life cut short for the amusement of bettors and the rich and famous who took their annually 1 day interest in horse racing.

I like to think the animals at this point are passionate about racing or else they would never have reached this level, I spent a lot of time around horses and stables when I was younger and although you can not read the animals minds you get the sense that some really were meant to race

Well sure, it is what they were trained to do since day 1 of their life. IMO, animals should be treated with respect and dignity. Things like the rodeo and circus and to some extant even horse racing expose animals to a lot of needless physical dangers. Animals aren't meant to be used as entertainment. There are better ways to entertain oneself than watching stuff like that....

I won't argue with that I have a great respect for the animals and what they are able to accomplish and wish they could be better safe guarded, a lot of blame goes on the jockies, most accidents are the result of a bad ride or pushing the animal too hard, the reason they are in danger is because the rider often gets greedy trying to up his reputation and pay level and absolutely nothing to do with the actual act of horses racing each other

damn, PETA. just knew they had to throw their butts in this.
i like this quote :"What we really want to know, did he feel anything along the way?" PETA spokeswoman Kathy Guillermo said. "If he didn't then we can probably blame the fact that they're allowed to whip the horses mercilessly."
they don't even whip the horses until down the stretch, and they don't whip them after the finish line. plus the horse feels that whip like a human feels a light slap.
