Judging someone's playoff performance over several years and series is "silly" and "misguided".

Funny, seems like you are the about the only one who feels that way. Guess statistical intelligence is a lonely road to hoe.

How many times do you need to be told that years and series don't matter, just PAs and ABs?

When your only argument is that your view is the commonly held view among idiotic sports commentators and writers, it's time to come up with a better argument or admit that you are wrong.

And fans. Guess you're above the curve, as compared to all groups.

Just because ARod turns from Cinderella to a pumpkin every October means nothing. You've convinced me. Good job!

Indeed. Most fans, announcers and sports writers do not look at the game analytically. There is a reason most people who supposedly "know the game" are losing sports bettors.

If you bet against ARod doing well in October playoffs, you will win every year that he remains in Pinstripes.

Fans, announcers and sports writers agree ...

            (and they are right)

Tim McCarver and Joe Morgan are clearly the best baseball bettors in the world.

Clearly, if you bet on ARod in October to succeed, you are not ...

See Crazyl's signature for why that is a dumb comment in general.

It is a true statement. Was true in ...

                    2004
                    2005
                    2006
                    2007

... and it will be true again in 2008.

Be glad to bet you when it comes to ARod in October ... how about I pay you $100 for every hit he gets and you pay me $100 for every K? And I'll throw in $100 for every RBI he has and you can give me $50 for every runner he leaves in scoring position ...

I'll end up ahead. You'd win in April. I'll definitely win in October.

                    (and you know it)

                    (2005 -- 2-15; 0 RBI's, 6 K's)
                    (2006 -- 1-14; 0 RBI's, 4 K's)
                    (2007 -- 4-15; 1 RBI, 6 K's) -- I suspect he left more than 1 person in scoring position these 3 years -- don't you???

I will likely take you up on something like that should the Yankees make the playoffs. Escrow with a reputable poster, of course.

Of course. Dozer perhaps, if he is willing, or Dan (or any other moderator would be fine) ... we each would put in between $500-$1000 in our respective accounts and re-evaulate who needs to put in more after each series (should the Yankees advance past the 1st round) ...

You could also cap it at a set number and escrow that amount, e.g. $1000 so that even if he has 20 hits and 5 Ks or 20 ks and 5 hits the most someone would lose is $1000. I have no problem with that number being higher (and it should be noted that Arod having more than 10 ks than hits or vice versa is fairly unlikely), but I do think it's probably easier to do it that way for the purposes of escrow.
