Sad day. Favre is not only a tough player, a great family man, an excellent quarterback, but also a class act on top of it. Thanks for the memories and highlights Brett.

I'm sad to see him go. I wanted to go to one more Packer game and see him play. I missed seeing him this last season (2007). Oh well I'm looking forward to seeing what Rogers can do.
You can't say Farve is to much of a diva as stated in an earlier post considering he never missed a start after being hurt at times, getting over his drug addiction, and the passing of his Father ect...
Just my opinion as a long time Packer Backer.
Happy Retirement #4. Thank you for the memories.

Thomas,
It's being reported that Favre did express that he would return for another year if Randy Moss were to come over. What do you feel about that, if anything, and do you think some of his younger and fresher receivers feel slighted by his comments? In years past I'd agree with his thinking, and I can certainly understand his desire to play with a star like Moss, but last year I really didn't feel that his receiving core was an issue.

I hope that's not the case. I really don't want to hear about Aaron Rodgers diving headfirst into the Fox River.

everything about this retirement feels odd, i could care less what the talkin heads say, i'm just tellin you how i feel personally, it just doesnt seem like his heart is really into retirement, he'll regroup mentally, he said he thinks he can still play, that was a major clue guys

I agree - better than average chance he'll be back.

I didn't know too much about this at the beginning but I heard him confirm it in an interview...
WHAT A JERK!!!
He runs up and down the field last year jumping around like a little kid lifting his recievers up on his shoulder after a TD... He even said that is one of the most talented teams he played on and now he doesn't want to play because he couldn't get another reciever..? What a baby... If I was his recievers I'd say I won't resign unless we get Peyton Manning next year...
He is "Seer's" age and he looks 15 years older then "Seer"... He is in no shape to be making demands like that... He's not the greatest to ever play or even in the top 5...
HIT THE F*CKIN' ROAD!!!

Favre is having a press conference tomorrow. I'll give my final opinion after I hear it from the horse's mouth.
He's probably legitimately done. But, it might be interesting if Rogers goes down with a season ending injury halfway through next year and McCarthy gives Brett "the call". lmao

That was pretty crappy on Favre's part. Seer wished he would have had Favre's talent though.

After listening to the press conference going on right now, I think he's done. He just doesn't want to put in what it takes to be the very his best any more. It sounds like he doesn't have quite enough desire any more. He did say something I thought was funny, something about if he could just show up on Sunday's and play, he'd do that, but it's all of the preparation that wears him down.
It really makes me wonder how long players really need to hang on. I mean, after 15+ years in the sport, most of these guys have enough money. If they've been around that long, they've probably achieved about as much as can be achieved. Psychologically, there just isn't much left to drive a guy. Besides, his body is probably pretty beat up, his relationships are probably strained from such a committment over the years to his sport. It probably just doesn't make sense to play past 35 for most people that make it that far.
Edit: Favre's wife just got on the mic to answer a question. She sounds 100 times more tired than Brett. I think she was a major factor for Brett. She's probably just tired of hardly having a husband, full time. If Brett's wife was 100% energized and enthusiastic about him returning for another season, I think he'd have returned in a heartbeat. lol. I can just tell. This game is his life. Even so, he's probably better off in the long run by retiring right now.

To be honest your the only one that I have heard say he would have come back if they got Moss. I will take Favre at his word.
I believe that he was set to retire. But I will say this. In my opinion, and thats all it is I think Favre was set to retire unless Moss did decide to sign with Green Bay. That's why he announced his retirement the very next day Moss signed with New England.
As for him being tired ya I think he is, but would have had one more go at it if they got Moss. It's hard to say. But all in all I hope he sticks with his decision. I don't think it was a diss on his other receivers. But who knows for sure. Maybe they would have felt that way.

Now we finally get to see how Aaron Rodgers will play. Honestly I think he won't be relied on heavily much in his first year and obviously he won't be as good as Farve.
