Well although I'm up about 80 units since joining SBR, I've learned a LOT from losing. Does anyone else have a strict set of rules that they follow to stay profitable in the long run? I've thought of a couple here, it would be great to see a few more that you guys use.
1) Don't chase
2) Stay away from the casino
3) Don't become and action junky
4) Make a spreadsheet and record EVERYTHING on it
The above are pretty obvious, but I've found that they are the result of most of my losses.
Chasing is self explanatory, and kind of ties in with becoming an action junky.
The casino is the WORST! Even though I know that there is no way to beat it, I hit a positive stroke of variance and after that have thought I could beat it, chased after setting losing limits, and become and action junky because I'm bored and want to try and win $$.
Action Junky is the hardest one for me at the moment. I'm currently struggling with the fallacy that I can cap every game accurately. I need to work on this one, because especially for NFL, you can find good reasons to pick both plays every single game! A downfall here, which I'm having trouble with is avoiding bets that I would have won. This causes me to steam and then become and action Junky the next chance I have!
Spreadsheet IMO is Crucial to being profitable. You may not notice how you're actually doing if you frequently deposit and withdraw from sports books. The spreadsheet will not only show you the net profits of your gambling, but you can also use it later to analyze how you're doing, and see if there is an area that you consistently win or lose at.
