As Steelers LB James Harrison mulls his NFL future, one of the Browns he knocked out Sunday, WR/KR Joshua Cribbs, is offering a show of support for his AFC North rival and former college teammate.
"I have no bad will towards LB James Harrison. That's what he's suppose to do knock people out, it's what makes him one of the best," Cribbs tweeted Wednesday. "I don't believe he intentionally wants to injure anyone, but it is apart of the game."
Harrison was fined $75,000 for his hit on Cleveland WR Mohamed Massaquoi on Sunday. He was not penalized for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Cribbs, who was concussed while running the ball into the teeth of the Pittsburgh defense.
"He has been hitting people like that as my teammate at Kent State & now as my rival he still hits people like that... He is still my boy," Cribbs added.
"It is unfortunate, but our sport is brutal we will both bounce back & compete again real soon... Oh yeah & we play each other twice!!!"
Massaquoi's agent was in a less forgiving mood when discussing Harrison.
"Harrison has made $20 million over the past three years, and they only fined him $75,000?" Brian Ayrault said Tuesday. "To me, that's not going to be a deterrent. The Browns are probably going to be without a starter this week. I don't think that fine is a deterrent or fair to competitive balance.
"The punishment did not fit the crime."
