thats right, the phils are showing the other teams in the playoffs what they have in store for them....roy, cole and roy. The phiils can win this.

That seems to back up what whatsgood5 is saying. When you throw out starters of Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz and the other short term quality pitchers they had every year... you are going to beat a lot of lesser teams without having to make many moves. You get to the playoffs where the other teams are on par and you only win one world series during a stretch of 14 straight division titles.. come on.. what team would be happy with that? He deserves credit and accolades but whatsgood5 has a point... if you win 14 divisions in a row.. you have to think there would be more to hang your hat on than just one world series... if he gets the credit for the regular season record.. he must take the blame for the sub-par post season record too.

he's kinda of like Phil Jackson... just without the rings. How could you not win with some of those players they had.

Have you watched nearly every single Braves game for the past three our four years? If not, then STFU. If yes, then LOL.

Don't get me wrong, Bobby is as classy as they come, and things won't be the same without him, but he's just not as good of a manager as it's made out to be.

I'm not so sure I'd call us dead. Haven't quite been playing as good as I would like, but what did you expect, Beachy to beat Hamels and Minor to beat Halladay in Philly? No chance in hell we win the division, but I'd be pretty surprised if we don't get the WC considering our remaining schedule...

Great points whatsgood5....... Just by your views on bobby its easy to tell that you are a fan who watches a number of Braves games. I love Bobby as a coach and person just as much as the next guy but anyone who watches enough braves baseball understands that he doesn't manage games like one of the best in the game. Now for years the braves have always lacked a ton of speed on the bases and power bats that other teams in the NL have been able to go out and acquire. With that being said bobby certainly made bullpen moves and late game decisions that many people have questioned throughout the years. Looking past all that he is easily one of the best to ever wear a uniform based on the way he carries himself and stands up for his players. Over the past 10 to 15 years big name players have always wanted to come to Atlanta (bobby being the coach as a big reason) and I know for a fact that if this team spent more money you would have seen a number of them in a Braves uniform. Finally, for all those people writing the Braves off based on a series against arguably the strongest team in the game, you must first look at the remainder of their schedule. 6 games left against the Nats and Marlins before going home to finish up against a phils team that has already clinched the East. Mark my words if the braves can win 4 or 5 of their next 6 games this team will without question win the wild card. Go Braves!

Couldn't agree more Chris, the bullpen mismanagement is what really gets me going, but good point in saying that a lot of players would like to come to ATL to play for Bobby. If I recall correctly Bobby had a whole lot to do with Wags deciding to sign with us this year, and he's been huge.

And I completely agree with you that we shouldn't be written off b/c of this series. Beachy vs. Hamels and Minor vs Roy Halladay...I'm not too sure what anyone could expect from those games...

Well guys, for now we are currently up a 1/2 game in the WC and it is ours to win. Colorado, San Fran, and San Diego all play each other in the seasons final 9 or 10 games. I think we are in a great spot to win this thing and if we can get 6 or 7 wins and win 92 or 93 games I think we would be more then deserving. I would also like to say that a playoff birth for us would be so big and a huge accomplishment for this Braves squad. Living in Mass I always tell Sox and Yanks fans that just getting into the playoffs is a accomplishment and a successful year. Anything more than that is just icing on the cake (at least for ATL).

I said going into the series against the Phils that I'd be happy with winning 1 of 3. Since that didn't happen, the NL West teams have helped out to keep the Braves alive. I was most worried about the Rockies and they certainly did their part to help out ATL. The one advantage the Braves have is that the West teams have to play each other. If the Braves can take care of business against lesser competition then they are set because the West teams will beat up on each other. But like I said, the Braves have to take care of business. They need to win 5 of 6 against the Nats and Marlins going into the last series against the Phils.

At this point, the Phils have all but clinched the East and best record in the NL, so maybe the Braves can get lucky in the last series. If the Phils have accomplished both feats by the last series, then they will not see the big 3 again, and certianly not for 100+ pitches. Philly will work out their rotation to have them go in the Divisional round. I don't know. I'm pulling for them. Tomorrow is the start, so we will see.

The Nats always seem to play the Braves tough. I wouldn't trust the Braves at all. Too inconsistent. Giants win the West, Padres claim the wild card.
