Do you begrudge your friend's success?

Until recently, I was never aware of this phenomenon. Truth. I don't know if it's hearing it through other people or reading it along my travels but it has become painfully obvious that friends seem to be more likely to get jealous of a friend's successes than to applaud and rejoice.

This completely baffles me. I have had the good fortune of knowing several people who have achieved magnificent financial success and I am almost as thrilled as they. As a matter of fact, I can even say I feel good about passing acquaintances who succeed and do well. Although I may not revel in their glory as I do for my friends, I am nonetheless pleased.

Personally, I don't know how it is possible to feel any other way. Who out there can't stand good fortune bestowed upon your friends that eclipses your own achievements?

I love hearing about my friends succeed in life. I surround myself around positive successful people and it brings me joy to find out they are making it in life, in all aspects. I am the one out of the group that hasn't done well, well at least compared to them.

I dont know, you say acquaintances then you say friends. BIG difference. I dont mind it either way, but you dont have to hear it from passing acquaintances all the time. It gets pretty annoying to see some friends become successful when you know they are fukin idiots & you know they will find a way to fuk it up

It's a selfish world out there. Plenty of people would steal from their best friend without a second thought.

I agree, a lot of people steal and cheat all the time. I don't put myself in a situation where someone can do that to me though.

I love seeing my friends do well, whether it be financially or just generally in life. Envy is one of those 7 deadly sins for a reason

Ive heard it referred to as the crab effect. Like crabs in a bucket, when one crab is almost to the top and glorious freedom the others try to grab him and bring him back down to their level.

Some friends of mine have acted different since I suddenly had more money because of things I never wanted to happen. They're just miserable pricks and should be treated accordingly.
