I know more than 1 that win. But it takes a lot of discipline. Everyone has horrible stretches and it's hard not to go on tilt.

I guess it makes sense. In the end we are all trying to win money not lose it. I don't buy the "I'm just doing it for the fun of it" line.
What I don't get are the people who bet dozens of games per day. They are real out of control people right there.

Recreational player is code word for losing player.
It sounds better when a sportsbook says we are a recreational sportsbook only as oppose to we are a losers only sportsbook.

Not all non-pros are losers. You can do it as a hobby and make money. It's tough not to get emotionally involved but it is possible to overcome.

Ad a matter of fact, the recreational player has a lot of advantages that aid in winning. When you aren't dependent on the outcomes, you can go to bed after a tough loss and forget about it.

I agree with this. There are rec gamblers that use principles that pros may use as well and are continually trying to improve their knowledge in order maximise the value of the bets they do place. Of course they may not have all the tools that a pro has because they haven't put the same amount of time in collecting and interpreting data - but that's not to say they're not attempting to get to that level even if they never achieve it. Not every rec gambler subscribes to "ooh the Yankees are -200, that means they're a lock".
The difference to me when I think of a rec and a pro gambler is of one person sports betting to supplement their income while the other is doing it as their main income. There are obviously rec gamblers who don't have a clue what they're doing and will never be successful in the longterm. And that's ok if they can afford to lose that money and still enjoy themselves to a certain extent while doing so. But there are others who manage to make a decent ROI by betting as wisely as they can.
