i would avoid playing heads up unless it is in a late-night heads up sitngo where you usually have a huge advantage.
if you are getting rakeback or a good enough bonus deal it might make sense to play heads up, but i feel much better playing sitngos or tables that are more on the full side.

Most good poker money mangers recommend 100-200 buy ins for whatever level you are playing at. It is certainly a very good idea to have at least 50 if you can help it. A bad downswing in poker can easily eat up more than 30 buy ins over the course of a month depending on how much you play. All things being equal, there is much more variance playing heads up and shorthanded than in full-ring games. Hope this helps.

must be cash game I would assume and for heads up Beach Nut is right...blinds are $1-$2, sit down w/ min of $200

If you don't have an edge you should call it a budget instead of a bankroll. Calculating bankroll requirements when you have negative expectation is an exercise in futility.

If you have a positive winrate established over a sufficient sample size it depends on your win rate, standard deviation and comfort level. Go on 2+2 and look for posts by Pzhon.

Scratch looking it up here is one post but he has others that are more concise if you have the time to look for them.

My advice would be to start at another type of game, become a winning player and work your way towards HU. The edges are greater there but it is even more difficult to play correctly (i.e. winning play). It will be extremely hard if you're playing fresh. If you can't be dissuaded at a minimum read Moshmans HU book and get a Deuces cracked membership.

Also, try to be honest with yourself if you're serious about this. Self delusion can be costly.
