    double down the right field line scores 2 runs. only 1 earned though because of the leadoff runner at 2nd. traditionalists like myself clenching their fists. I'm not a fan of this rule change whatsoever.

    maybe you didn't actually follow the game... it ended 1-0 after 9 innings.
    They decided to just 'practice' the new extra inning rules after that. They never gave the padres a run... This game was over after 9... everything after that was just practice.
