I know theoretically it’s a problem

but from a practical standpoint there are too many unforeseen variables and issues that computers will freeze over

hell I can’t even get Siri to answer simple trivia questions for me. Self checkouts at a grocery store lock up for no reason half the time and a human employee has to get it running again.

I think this is one of those scenarios where people predict incredible things in the future and it just doesn’t happen. We were all supposed to be flying around in solar cars by now but instead more and more people are choosing to putter around in golf carts

I thought about the EMP angle but if they really are intelligent I'm pretty sure you can protect against EMPs or suppress the effects of one. If indeed they were Artificially intelligent they would learn how to defend against the threat after several defeats.

They believe that eventually, AI will become so superior to human intelligence that these entities will decide that human beings are a waste and that there really is no reason to keep them viable.

This idea that these AI will have safeguards is also science fiction. The sky will be the limit according to people a ton smarter than any of us. Naturally, we have disagreements with this issue some great minds think that it won't be a problem. We won't be around, maybe your grandkids--maybe.

Well as I wrote some great minds are warning us that it could be the end. Hawkings recently passed has communicated that, and I believe many others are of the same mind. It is science fiction right now, but it won't be science fiction for long. I haven't the knowledge or the technological know how to claim to have an answer. I also believe in science and I don't want to be the person screaming that this invention will be the end of the world. Crazy people said that about almost every single great discovery, starting with the printing press and including up to landing on the moon. (oh wait that really didn't happen)

However, the other side of the coin is you can't make a mistake with this crap. They told us autonomous cars are safe, well not quite. That is fine because they can fix those type problems. But if AI gets out of hand how do you fix it. Pull the plug? Nope, that won't work. I am glad I don't need to worry about it and probably my kids also need not be concerned.
