Trump turning US into 'world champion of extreme inequality', UN envoy warns

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...mp-republicans

Not only does he warn that the
tax bill currently being rushed through Congress will hugely increase already large disparities between rich and poor, he accuses Trump and his party of consciously distorting the shape of American society in a “bid to become the most unequal society in the world”.

In his most stark message, Alston warns that the Republicans’ declared intent to slash crucial welfare programs next year in order to pay for some of the $1.5tn tax cuts could cost American lives.

Alston is also scathing about the attitudes of some of the politicians and officials he met on his tour, who subscribe to what he calls the caricature of rich people as industrious and entrepreneurial and poor people as “wasters, losers and scammers”.

Wow it's a tax plan only to benefit the rich!!!! 😂 wow..

Current law: $6,350 standard deduction for single taxpayers and $12,700 for married couples, filing jointly.

Proposed: $12,000 standard deduction for single taxpayers and $24,000 for married couples, filing jointly.

Current law: Deductible mortgage interest is capped at loans of $1 million.

Proposed: Deductible mortgage interest for new purchases of first or second homes would be capped at loans of $750,000.

Current law: Qualified medical expenses that exceed 10 percent of the taxpayer’s adjusted gross income are deductible.

Proposed: Reduce the threshold to 7.5 percent of AGI for 2018 and 2019.

Current law: A $1,000 credit for each child under 17. The credit begins phasing out for couples earning more than $110,000. The credit is at least partially refundable to qualified taxpayers who earned more than $3,000.

Proposed: Double the credit to $2,000 and provide it for each child under 18 through 2024. Raise the phase-out amount to $500,000, and cap the refundable portion at $1,400 in 2018.

Liberal talking point spoiler: these tax cuts will only raise the deficit therefore poor people will lose in the long run because the deficit will go up...lol yah now democrats are deficit hawks 😂....Yet they have no way to predict the future as well as what will happen they just see a amazing tax break in the bill And have to find some way to say it's for the rich when it's not at all..

Hey SpurtsMushroom, why do you follow sports? It's blatantly elitist. The best teams with the best players beat down the lesser teams. They get the trophies and win the championships which in turn gets them more fans and more money and better coaches.

The few players who make the most money make 50-100 times all those players with a base salary. I would venture to guess soccer is the same or worse. If we start talking about all those poor athletes playing in minor or lesser leagues compared to Lebron, Brady, and Ronaldo then we are getting close to 1000:1 pay ratios.

With this in mind, how can you stomach watching sports and why are you on a sports forum?

Obama added $10 Trillion in debt over his 8 years. Why would you be worried about $1.5 Trillion over a 10 year period that goes to the people instead of the bankers that Obama backed?

Is quoting a leftist rag like the Guardian meant to be a joke or are you really that clueless to think that it's a publication worth linking to? You might as well link to The Daily Worker. And Philip Alston? Are you kidding me? That guy is an internationalist/communist that works with the disgraceful Rothschild branches like the UN and the EU. He's a joke. He also is a tireless propagandist promoting sexual deviancy as "normal" and multi-gender issues and other anti-Christian narratives created by his Jewish bosses to destroy Christian nations and national sovereignties.

One of these days kid, if you are capable of actual thought, research, and reason, you'll finally figure out that Federal Income Tax is essentially a scheme created by Ultra-Wealthy Jewish bankers (the same Jewish internationalists who create and finance the socialist ideology and programs which you seem to be enamored with) to ensure that governments can continue to borrow money at interest from their banks which are also in control of the printing of their fiat credit based currency. In the United States, those are called Federal Reserve Notes. They has deflated the value of that currency by around 98% in only 1 century since they took over complete control of the money supply and has coincided with the same 1 century of Federal Income Tax, which was originally enacted in 1913 as a 3% income tax on only the very wealthy, and the promise that "most Americans" would never be burdened with such an invasive tax. Of course, World Wars and phony "homelands" needed to be financed, and so everyone has to "pay their fair share".

There's a reason Wall Street bankers like Jacob Schiff gave Lev Bronstein (Leon Trotsky) 20 million in gold in 1917 to help overthrow the Christian Czar and implement a internationalist communist state in Russia. Same reason why leftist and "progressive" ideology which "demonizes" affluence, liberty, and free markets and promotes ultra high minimum wages, and "social justice", while destroying normalcy and families, are funded by the wealthiest Talmudic Jews in the world. Get a clue kid, and stop embarrassing yourself.

I previously itemized deductions, but the increase in the standard deduction is going to save me about $1,000. THANK YOU TRUMP! I guess I can consider myself rich since I'm getting a tax cut. SWEET! I've always wanted to be rich, and now I can assert that claim.

I understand that, because of the bracket changes. Yes, you will probably save $1,000-2,000 of scraps. I am going to save $10-15k because I run an S-corp. Not complaining about that specifically, but the bulk of the cuts are not going to those who need it. And the deficit is going to explode unnecessarily.

Many people in CA and NY will pay more though.

The new brackets are very good for couples who make in the $300k range. Wide range of marginal change from 33% to 24%.

We could eliminate the deficit now, but the GOP will have to cut defense spending and all corporate welfare, something they've not been in favor of for decades.
