I would use different adjectives than zany and lovable. Maybe cancerous and malignant. Is forum killer an adjective? When The Shrink was starting EOG he told me his plan, to get all the knuckleheads, troublemakers and rabble rousers in the forums. I advised him not to. The good quality posters would be chased out leaving a free for all of trash. Plus we all had a pool when jj would suffer an inevitable meltdown and turn on Shrink. I had 90 days and lost. I guess this is his last stop. After retiring from here he must have unretired as there was no where left.

I am waiting for someone who has read what you have posted here and try to make it out like you are the bad guy.

Forum-killer, I couldn't agree with more. But SBR_John doesn't see it that way.

At one time, to the embarrassment of Illusion and myself (the original mods here) John actually started a special jjgold sub-forum. A whole forum dedicated to the concept that posting bad information gets more attention than boring old good information. As I sit here, I can't imagine why it doesn't still exist.

It's a fair question. I said people have man-crushes - actually following his theories is a different matter.

I sometimes wonder. You take a guy like BigBoyDan who goes on and on about jj's expertise. Does Dan think he is being funny or is he actually that square? I don't know.

I suspect Dan knows better than to follow jj theories. Unfortunately when he posts his ass-kissing - with the SBR name attached - it amounts to an endorsement no matter how it is intended. Not everyone is going to be in on the "joke."

Anyway, I'm not meaning to just pick on Dan. There are a bunch of guys - not all ghosts. They would all have to answer for themselves.

I dont know what happened between those two. But forumville is like that. JJ went offf for a while on Russ too. Now they are tight.

The Shrink tries hard. I feel for him. He takes pride in what he does and the magic did not happen at eog like at the rx. He has tried to spike things with paid posters. He is trying to build a business, a tough business in an impossible climate. I used to knock him but now I know how he feels.

Yes jj feeds off the tongue in cheek humor from the veteran posters. It just makes me cringe. Then when you ask, hey, he's funny, or harmless, or amusing. I think none of the above. He is a net loss just by posting. But when the world was all about fighting for views, he was paid or compensated for that, sort of like everyone has to look at a fatal car crash. I just think his time has come and gone, and all of the forums dropped him like a hot potato. I guess my wishful thinking was like other dinosaurs he would just wade out into the tar pits and disappear when his time was done. All of my wishes end like this.

I disagree with most of this. Forumville is not like this. I had more real battles with the Shrink than jj ever dreamed of, and I was not getting paid. But I never lashed out, going on a racist tirade. It all comes down to credibility. It's why I went after David1, Kodiak, BOS, ACE ACE and his front the rx. If you allow someone to piss in your pool, everyone has to swim in it. Except those who choose to leave.

Well omni, I have to say, I have noticed an outbreak of quality posting in this forum in the last little while - and I believe you have a lot to do with that.

This place - due to the vision of ownership - (lack of vision I would say but obviously John would disagree) - has been actively pursuing a quantity-over-quality strategy for quite awhile. Quality posting is allowed but only if it doesn't get in the way of the zany hijinx.

As I say, it's not new. But I think it had finally worn me down. Anyway, it is invigorating to see someone like-minded on quality issues.

Unfortunately, I fear your freshness and energy will be sapped just like mine. I don't see anything actually changing to make this a friendlier forum for people like us. I've been waiting 2 years.

I am of the quality over quantity school of thought. But I tried to sell that concept to Shrink and he laughed. Too boring. So the offshore forums created a market for jj's. But there are certain actions or lines I just do not think you should cross, even for views or whatever, not being paid $400. I have a very low tolerence of racism, never have. Maybe if you are getting OJ off a murder rap you can, but to attack someone with it is wrong, under any circumstances. Unsubstantiated accusations of drug use is another, whether it is John Daly or jj. If that were to affect the EOG in a negative revenue capacity, it might be a crime. And probably worse of all is threatening to be a snitch. I'm going to tell on you has rubbed me wrong since I was 5. You either have a set of beliefs and convictions to adhere by them, or you don't.

Nothing personal against JJ, aside from his apparent racism which has come up a few different occasions. But I'm tired of reading threads about him, or reading him make this forum his personal blog. Paying posters for any reason seems a bit questionable, it will just bring out "performers" instead of regular honest posters generating discussion. When the performers you employ are potentially bipolar or susceptible to fall in love with their own legend, it just drags down the overall quality of the forum.
