I am a pretty big Simpsons fan so it was necessary for me to go to the first showing on opening day today.
Having now seen it, it was necesssary for me to change my signature to its current state. I'm sure I will not be the last person to use that in the internet world.
Anyway, I thought it was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It got off to a very high laughs-per-minute ratio; there was no way to keep up the pace; but it settled in nicely I thought.
I don't know what else to say without getting into spoilers. Everything seemed pretty good to me. They kept it to a sensible length of 87 minutes. Quality-wise, it was definitely a notch above the regular episodes we have been seeing for the last several seasons.
PS - there are little gags that run through the closing credits. You may find yourself sitting there like me wondering when it's okay to go. Well if you want to see/hear every last gag, you have to stay right to the very end and the bit with the squeaky-voiced teen. That one was not particularly great but, as I say, if you are driven to see/hear every last thing, you have to sit right to the end.
