Important update about the NFL Network from Time Warner Cable
Dear Time Warner Cable Customers:
Another NFL season brings renewed media attention concerning Time Warner Cable’s carriage of the NFL Network. Please know that no one wants to carry this network more than Time Warner Cable.
We’ve made an honest effort over the past three years to reach a reasonable carriage agreement with NFL Network and remain interested in carrying the NFL Network on our digital sports tier. Unfortunately, the NFL Network has refused our numerous offers to resolve the issue fairly. The network continues to demand tens of millions of dollars a year for a network that airs only eight live regular season games. Given the price and terms the NFL Network is currently demanding, the network is simply not worth it.
Sadly, we have received no recent indication from the NFL that they are interested in negotiating such a deal. The NFL continues its attempts to pull the government into this dispute to force Time Warner Cable and other companies to carry the network. The government should stay out of it and let the companies and consumers figure it out.
Time Warner Cable recognizes that you and many of our other valued customers are passionate football fans, and we will continue to negotiate in good faith with the NFL Network to acquire the rights to carry this network at a price that’s fair to our customers. Thank you for your continued patronage of Time Warner Cable.
Sincerely,
Bob Barlow
