you could always give the bartender 17% + a tip on the NBA
So I gave a Tip and was treated rude

#38It is 17%, yes, but you should leave more since you sat there and got waited on for how long?
If it was 1 beer for $4.25, then yes, 75 cents would be ok.Comment -

#45OK, here is the deal, and I am not even trying to be mean:
You had 3 beers at an establishment, and those beers cost you less than $5. Forget about what is "customary", in this situation, I would have left no less than a $3 tip in this situation. The change thing was an insult to him, your seat could have generated much more in tip revenue to him relative to what you spent. I realize that isn't your fault, but seriously, if you go out and have less than a $5 tab, you have to tip relatively more, that is just how it works. You are an engineer, don't be a cheap fukk.Comment -

#61When i drink at a bar, i always give at least $1 per drink.. If you can't afford that, maybe you shouldn't be going out to bars.. I would have given you your .75 cents back also, since you clearly would have needed it more than me..Comment -

#63I already got into it with this guy about tipping. When I thought about though, I realized he just doesn't know anything about having class. He would be completely lost in any of the finer establishments I have worked. This is the guy that asks for ketchup to go on his tenderloin. He's the one that doesn't understand the waiter is going to bring him a new fork after his salad so he doesn't have to try to snatch it off the empty plate as it's being cleared.
He's the epitome of what we in the business call an amateur, and would be marked as one the minute he walked in the door. We'd be the ones looking down our noses at him for not belonging. The cheap tip/stiff would have already been expected. We'd just want to get him out the door before the rest of the guests started thinking we cater to his type.
Melo, stick to places that serve $1.50 MGD's - your favorite. You don't belong anywhere nicer than that.Comment -
