Maybe Scorpion is european like me and concerned the ongoing weak dollar will eat his offshore money. No worry in the long term the $ will get stronger. Especially from the year 2008 on when Hillary takes over leadership, stops burning money for warmongering, gets the scary us boys out of this anarchy hell called iraq and doing some relevant politics.

Meanwhile threre are strategies you can save larger dollar amounts by long term certificats speculating on an weaker $. Due to economic levers there cannot be eur-$ rate of 1.40 or higher for a long time.

Dollar seems to hold its value better

The reason it is posted is because many bettors, mainly Europeans, have sportsbook investments in dollars.

It looks like the dollar holds its value better.

I would guess that interest rates on Euro saving's accounts are thus higher than on dollar which are about 5% on the internet.

I think you probably mean the opposite of what you're saying. In the above chart, currency is quoted in dollars per euro (despite the chart being labelled "EUR to USD").

Hence as the valuation tends to increase with time in the above chart, what we're seeing is the euro strengthening against the USD and not the other way around.

Nevertheless, this doesn't necessarily mean that in general the euro "holds it value better" than the dollar, but rather that the euro has outperformed the dollar over this particular period of time.

The data shows a stronger Euro and a weaker dollar over that time period. If this were priced into the currency futures markets, you'd expect rates to be lower in Europe than the US.

I put a futures bet in back in 03' on Carolina to win the super bowl at 20-1 four games into the season.. Sportsbook of course... At that time I had been watching the currencies move and planned on puttiing the bet in Euros because I speculated a drop in the dollar between then and Super Bowl time.. Well I didn't put it in Euros unfortunatley and Carolina lost to boot but you can see what I am saying.. The payout was $42K not sure what it was in Euros but would have been more then $42K with the drop that happened in the dollar then once my winnings in Euro's were converted back to dollars..

Finally what I have been meaning to get to is this:
We in N. America INCLUDING CANADIANS/MEXICANS are getting your version of the Euro...called the AMERO... I believe it is scheduled to be introduced inside one year and implamented by 2011... I wonder how this would affect us or how we could take advantage of this... Any European feedback on what happened during the conversion to the Euro would be appreciated...

The AMERO will never get off the ground due to various economic levers.

It's just my feeling that a sports betting forum is probably not the most approproate place to post large quantities of raw currency price data. This is only more true when posted without analysis or comment.

FWIW, since euro-bloc interest rates are lower than those in the US right now, one would expect some marginal degree of depreciation in the USD vs the Euro. In other words, since you're not earning any interest on your money in sportsbooks, you might as well be earning no interest on Euros (where you give up, say, 4.15% in interest opportunity cost) than in USD (where you give up, say, 5.06%).

The AMERO will work but is designed as the dollar is to fail when the time comes... Currencies are going to play off of each other until there is one "THE PHONEIX).. Cali. the 5th largest economy in the world by itself is in the same union of states as Idaho not to mention the social differances they share... The Tri-laterial commission didn't work on the N. American Union for decades so it won't work... IT WILL!!!
