7-0 in a lot of leagues is amazing, baseball is not one of them.
I hope they do well as a low dough team.

You know I see what you’re saying here but I don’t know that I fully agree. Yes they have a ton of games left but I’d honestly be interested to know historically how teams who start a season say 7-0 or whatever fare for an entire season. Sort of like in NFL there’s the whole “teams who go 2-0 make the playoffs x percentage of the time” kinda shit that Mr Bill likes to post. Would be interested to know if there’s some kind of similar deal with baseball. Or, as you’re alluding to, does it even matter in a 900 game season

Rays are always good and will win 90-100 games.
However, do not make too much of anything 7 -8 games into the season.

8-0 now. I mean they gotta be the odds on favorite to win the Super Bowl.

Their starting pitching is elite. Their #2 starter Glasnow is out. Their 4/5 starter Baz is out. Chirinos who is at Durham is better than half teams 4/5 starters.
The key is Franco and Margot staying healthy.

Be careful of those games played in London following a bye week though.
The Rays are off to a historic 9-0 start, but they have also faced one of the easiest schedules you could ask for to begin a season — nine games against the Athletics, Nationals and Tigers.
The Rays’ average consensus price in those nine games was -250, or 71.4% implied. Even after configuring for vig, that is still roughly an average line of -228 (69.5%).
If you extrapolate that out, a team at that implied percentage (69.5%) over a nine-game stretch has about a 3.8% chance of winning all those games. Or, roughly, one in 26 times.
What’s far more impressive is that the Rays have easily covered the run line in each game, too. They haven’t just won against lesser competition, they have dominated.
Still, I projected Boston closer to +120 for Monday; I bet the Red Sox at +132 or better.
Additionally, play their F5 moneyline to +124.
Additionally, the total seems too high for a game at Tropicana Field.
Since 2005, games at the Trop with a total of 8.5 or higher have gone Under at a 54.5% clip (335-279-24). A consistent $100 bettor would be up $3,460 with a 5.4% ROI (Data via Action Labs).
I set the total around 8.1 for this matchup; bet the Under 8.5 to -105.
Pick: Red Sox +135

Wow, HR in B8 wins it for Rays. Might be a nice run for them.
Who has the longest wins in the row starting the season?

From The Athletic
(Sorry for the cut/paste job, The Athletic is a PPV read only)
Quick — which team has the top OPS in baseball? That would be Tampa Bay (.967), whose 9-0 start has been one of the best early storylines in baseball. In typical Rays fashion, they’re doing it up and down the lineup, with not a single player in the top 10 in individual OPS as of Sunday afternoon (Wander Franco, through nine games, was 11th with 1.157).
Critics will point to the Rays’ early strength of schedule, which has included the Detroit Tigers, Washington Nationals and Oakland Athletics, a trio of teams not expected to contend. Still, Tampa Bay hasn’t just beaten inferior opponents, they’ve pummeled them. The Rays have won each game by four or more runs and have outscored opponents 75-18. Their run differential, already the largest in the modern era to start the season, is now a ridiculous plus-57 through their first nine games. The 18 runs allowed through nine games is a new franchise record.
How are the Rays doing this, particularly offensively, which was a concern heading into the season? A big part is player health, with Jose Siri (hamstring) just the first position player to land on the injured list on Saturday. Tampa Bay was one of the most injured teams in baseball last year. According to the site Man Games Lost, which tracks total games missed by injury and official IL stints, Tampa Bay’s total injuries account for 1,656 missed games, which trailed only Cincinnati, Washington and the Chicago Cubs, three non-contending teams.
“We’re just healthier than we were last year,” Kevin Cash said last week. “It’s by and large, the same group I believe. So if we would have had that group running, I think we would have felt the same way. We just never could get them on the field all at one time. … We have a good mix of power and contact.”
The Rays lead the majors in home runs and runs scored and rank second with a .289 batting average. This lineup may have been overlooked by baseball pundits, which the Rays are used to. Earlier this year, an article ranked the top 10 rotations in baseball. Tampa Bay wasn’t even in the top five.
It’s a gross oversight and one that didn’t escape people in the organization. Tampa Bay, in its 25th anniversary season, has put together a starting pitching group that has the potential to be historically good. Heading into Sunday’s games, Rays starters ranked second in baseball in ERA, fourth in walks allowed and fifth in strikeouts. They trailed only the Dodgers in pitches per inning at 14.31, and still figure to get better with starter Tyler Glasnow (oblique) expected to return in mid-May. Glasnow could give the Rays a third top-of-the-rotation arm along with Shane McClanahan and Jeff Springs. Drew Rasmussen — who held the A’s to one hit and struck out eight over seven innings Sunday — and Zach Eflin have also both been terrific.
The Rays have had some really good rotations, the 2012 group chief among them. Still, last week in D.C., Cash didn’t want to anoint the ’23 group as the best ever.
“On your paper, yes (you can say that),” he said, laughing. “I can’t let you pin me on that one, I’m going to have (former Rays starter and Cy Young winner) Blake Snell calling, yelling at me if I do that.”

It is gonna be tough to sweep the Red Sox, but if they do that they got the record.
