I think the argument here was that it was a very physical game & to make that call w 1.2 seconds left appeared to be weak. Factor in that McDermott in his press conference was never given an explanation for the foul

It wasn't weak though. Physical when it comes to defending the ball, Hand checking, or fighting for a rebound is totally different than fouling a shooter in the air. Those are two different animals. You simply cannot push a shooter while he's in the air shooting. It's really not that complicated and should be a foul 100% of the time in any and every situation. I get frustrated by ticky tack fouls on dribblers and fighting for a rebound, or even when a shooter is grazed after the ball is released. But this was none of that. This was 100% shooting foul. I can't even believe it's being debated frankly.

It displaced the shooter, clearly a foul.
I had no skin in that game, zero, but a foul is a foul, that was a foul, how much time is left on the clock should not be a factor.

I'll leave room to say that it could perhaps be a factor on a very very very close call. Certainly I wouldn't want to see a hand check foul near the end. This was not that.

Right it’s crazy that there’s this much debate about this. I mean it’s like when you’re watching porn, and the guy shoves the vibrator all the way up the other guy’s ass, no one is arguing that the vibrator has not displaced what used to be his boyfriend’s asshole. Just like fouling a shooter midair

The debate on the foul comes down to this: there were at least 12-15 similar fouls on an airborne shooter in the game that were NOT called.
Much harder fouls on drives to basket were not called. That is fine to let them play. Then one is called on the last play of the game that gave the win to SDS. Most ex players and coaches today are saying if they called the others then this foul was fine to be called. But it wasn't.
That is why people are pissed about it.

I think the mistake came before the foul. Creighton had a foul to give with 32.8 seconds left, they decided to use the foul to give and now the shot clock was turned off. Now with shot clock off pressure of the SD State Shooters don't have to worry there will still be time still left on the the clock he can now look for the best shot. If there was 2.8 left who knows a pass to mid court a dribble and shot even a foul.

Yeah it was a tough outcome definitely a foul but I see what people are saying why call it now when game was on line I had Creighton ML. But bottom is if Creighton drove the ball inside and passed to kulbrennar more game is out reach and would had been in bonus sooner and they were #1 Foul shooting team. Perfect ending in refrees hands don't call foul kid makes shot or OT. Ending reminds me of Super Bowl Eagles Ending pass interference call yes it was but but it was not call like that the whole time. Shame these games have to end this way. Congrats to SD STATE !

Not only that, but how about Creighton burning it's last TO before the 2 FT's!? Like, what? Had he made the first, he could have simply missed the 2nd on purpose and then they have to heave it 75 feet on the rebound. Obviously you save your TO for after the FT's for a myriad of reasons. Creighton's whiny ass coach cost his team the game.

No. No. They only had 1 TO left. You use it after the 2nd FT, regardless of what happens. Anything before is an utter waste. If he missed the 2nd, you need that TO.
