Odds you accidentally shot and kill yourself or someone else with a CCW is much greater than actually using it to prevent a crime when it's needed
PACO's ordeal was nearly a 1 in a million type of scenario

People with CCW are very good shooters Kraken. These are the people who know about gun safety and visit the range weekly for practice shooting.
The ones that are careless are the twats with illegal guns that carry them like gangsters for crime purposes.

While I agree Pavers, I don't think it's about being a good shooter, it's about accidents, or leaving the gun out and a child getting it.
I say that as I have CCL in multiple states, but I think it's just fact. It's beyond rare that someone carrying a gun ever has to pull it. It's just a false sense of security IMO
But in general, I agree with your statement

bullshit, just being legally allowed to carry prevents crime itself, you don't even have to draw, if people think you may be armed they will look for an easier target, i.e. A school or "gun free zone"...you just have to be smarter than an inanimate object and you will be ok...

ya because there isn't any homicides in the ghettos or anything. One white guy shoots up a couple people and it makes national news, meanwhile that exact thing happens 50 times a day in every major city in ghettoville but that's none of my business

Just fighting the good fight(on sbr, I know lol)...i don't mind spending a few seconds to respond, usually I'm taking a shit or killing time so it's no big deal...im not trying to change anyone set in their beliefs but if someone is reading that is on the fence, I just want them to have both sides of the argument..

Yeah there's limits ie nothing high powered, permits and police are strict on ensuring your firearm is locked away securely in its own gun cabinet.
No way you can carry around openly or concealed. BIG jailtime if you get caught doing that...
Basically unless your a criminal then most people simply see no need to want to own a gun for protection as the necessity simply doesn't exist surfer....

I just searched Australia gun laws and people are talking about carrying sticks and bats and knives...good gawd!
i do believe if it ain't broke don't fix it, if it works for you guys then more power to you but you can't really expect the rest of the world to follow by example..and trying to convince us citizens to adapt the same laws is more of a waste of time than me responding...

Of course
You lot were founded on war and slavery. Is like comparing apples to oranges
I mean gun rights are in the constitution but when you dont have a mass murder at the hands of a firearm for over 20 years then get back to me and tell me how it doesnt work...

I think the sad part of PACO's story is everybody stood around and did nothing, except him. The victim would have been dead in a "gun-free" zone. And good for him that he had enough restraint not to put a bullet in her head because it was justified.

Cooch, Oct 2015, guy shot up some people outside a daycare but it didn't make headlines as Obama was just praising your country and he was pushing his gun banning.

If your referring to the paramatta incident then yeah 1 police officer was shot dead at close range as was the attacker himself by police.
Constituting that as a mass murder is stretching the definition just a little...
Imagine how much damage the guy could've done if he had access to a high powered semi auto assault rifle??

In 2015, guy kills two people outside a police station, 2 months later a guy takes hostages in a cafe in Sydney kills two of them before police could take him down. Before that:
At Monash,*seven people were shot(two fatally) by a murderous student who was armed with multiple handguns. All six handguns were acquired legally. *The attacker was later determined to be mentally ill.
The*Hectorville siege that saw seven people shot*(three fatally) was conducted with a shotgun that was legal under Australian law. The attacker in this incident was also found to be mentally ill.
The*Hunt family murders*were likewise carried out with a legally-owned shotgun. The murderer in this instance was thought to be highly stressed due to his wife’s head injury
No matter what laws are in place people who want to kill others will find the tools they need whether legal or not. No matter what country they live in or how proud you are of your countries laws compared to others. As long as there is fuked up people in this world this stuff is going to happen. That's all I am trying to say.

I dont know cootcher. Because we're sheltered from these types of incidents ( due to our countries gun laws) maybe that's why we shouldn't judge.
I am happy that virtually nobody in my country carries a gun however, if I lived in the United States where virtually everyone has a gun I truly believe I would want one too. And I'd like to believe I would use it responsibly like Paco.
