Again, I would pull my kid out of any school that allows teachers to possess a gun. Its a ridiculous idea. Logic tells me that if an armed gunman walks into a class room, they're going for the teacher first.
Now, the teacher stands nearly zero percent chance of making a difference here, they just won't have the time. Maybe they're at the board teaching, or helping a student. Hell, even if they're sitting at their desk, good luck unlocking your safe under a barrage of 5.56 NATO tounds, and then if your successful, good luck actually hitting a target while they're firing at you.
It's crazy to think that some people accept this as the best idea.

First, I never said every vet has PTSD, just pointed out that all along we've been discussing what a big role mental illness plays in these types of shootings, and roughly 10-15% of vets have PTSD. Thats a big number.
i don't mind Opies idea of the principal having a gun, any gun, I honestly don't care. The problem, not all principals would be ok with this, it would be hit or miss on which schools would have such protection. I am 100% against teachers having guns.
It always comes back to the same thing though Harry, and lets use this most recent shooting as an example. Say the teacher would have had a gun, as you propose, it would have done no good. The shooter walked straight up to hom, and shot him point blank. Thats what would happen. What teacher would stay 100% at their desk, next to their safe? Even if they did, they would still be shot.
Think of how much time it would take to unlick the safe, open it, take out the gun, aim it and fire. 10 seconds probably and thats if you were right there. Thats too much time brother, the teacher would be dead every time.
I, like you, would love a solution, but it has to be sensical and not create more danger than it is supposedly protecting from.Comment
