Are you working with Bill BL? I try not to comment on ongoing disputes on the forum beyond the general statement like I already vented in this thread. It tends to undermind the work of the SBR staff and also works against the player too. If you have a question about any ongoing dispute that we are helping with, please write Bill or the SBR staff memeber working your case.

Betsense was years ago . I have moved on , Just trying to make the point that books will confiscate balances.
If they have no intention of confiscating balances due to inactivity why is it in their terms ?
If it is an issue of "tidying up balances " then why not return money to the source it came from, less a reasonable admin fee (say $30). I cant think of any reason why the money should be retained by the book. It is theft and any book that contains it in their terms is not A+

No arguement from me there. The $30 fee would be unacceptable unless it was stated in the TOS and even then it would be unfair.

Neteller gouges me for a inactivety fee on their silly debit card.

I'll read through your case that you posted. We get 100's of complaints each week and I can only remember 1 or 2 inactivety confiscations. Each was promptly returned.

Sir, you were simply ripped off.

Here is BL's account... A story of complete theft.

There have been a few cases of rogue bookies recently but I think my treatment by Betsense must rank as one of the worst cases I ahve come across.

I opened my account wityh Ј2000 in April/May of this year after being tempted by some good formula 1 prices.( I cant be sure of the date as they have blocked my access to my account) . I placed my first bet in early May Ј200 on a F1 matchup. Unfortunately in the course of placing this bet I discovered that the bet was for a minimum of 3 bets. I placed a further 2 bets and subsequently lost my Ј200. After looking for further betting possibilities at Betsense I discovered that an awful lot of their bets require a minimum of 3 bets to be placed. I decided to with draw my money. Unfortunately for some reason my account was not set up by Betsense to allow withdrawals through their website. A series of emails were sent backwards and forwards regarding ID etc culminating in their email to me of 5th sept 2002 (see below)

            "Dear Sir,

            thank you for your e-mail.

we have received copy of your credit card and Id.

It is possible to ask a withdrawal even you have not won any sum. In this case you will

pay an additional commission, except the expenses for withdrawals (bank transfer, mail or

carrier). Here it follows the article B4 of our rules: B4. The balance of the account is

available for the withdrawal, until an amount equivalent to the difference between the

credits made by the Company and the withdrawals made previously. If the User wishes to

withdraw amounts higher than those allowed, an additional commission will be applied in

addition to the regular expenses concerning the withdrawal, equivalent to the 10% of the

amount required. The withdrawals are exclusively made according to the Company’s terms and

by using the right procedure. Please write us to account@be-emotions.com giving your

address or bank details for your withdrawal.

Please let us know if you prefer a cheque sent by carrier or by mail, in this case we

need the address where you want to receive your cheque. If you prefer a money trasfer

just give us your bank details.

As withdrawal costs you will pay for Bank transfer Ј 32.00 or Ђ 50.00; for Cheque not

negotiable, sent by a carrier Ј 7.00 or Ђ 12.00; Cheque not negotiable, sent by ordinary

            mail Ј 2.00 or Ђ 3.00; Cheque not negotiable, sent by a registered letter Ј 5.00 or Ђ

            7.50.

            best regards

            operator 3

            best regards"

so they were going to take an extra 10% of my money so that I could leave . This was obviously not very pleasant but at this stage I was so fed up with Betsense that I accepted their terms . email below sent on sun 8th Sept 2002

"I would prefer a bank transfer

Please transfer the balance of my account

            Acct Details

            KP XXXXXX

            HSBC Bank

            Acct Number 6XXXXXXX

            Sort code XXXXXX

            Swift Code XXXXXXXC

            Thankyou

            Kevin"

Unfortunately the amount in question never arrived an I left things for a while

At the beginning of December i decided I needed to resolve the issue and that if I gave them some "action "then they may pay me out or aleternatively I would have lost my balance ( i layed my bets of on betfair and betdaq)

            On 9th Dec I placed 2 bets

Ј800 on Barcelona to win at 2.30

            they lost well done Barcelona

Ј1000 on Man City to beat Suderland at 3.15.

Every thing was ok at half tome but unfortunately things went badly from then on Nad I now have Ј3150 in my betsense account

I tried again to withdraw my money I got the following reply from Betsense

            "Dear User,

we are sorry but we can't accept your withdrawal request dated 11st of December 2002

because you haven't used your account for more than 6 months. So, according to our rules (Art. B3) we have to consider your account as suspended

because your last transaction has been made on the 7th of May. Consequently, after the 6 months above mentioned, we can't accept any transaction made by

you and we consider your account suspended.

So, we have also cancelled all the transactions made by you after the 7th of November

            2002.

            Best regards"

            B3 states that they

"The account without operations for more than 6 months will be autom Iatically removed before the end of expiry’s month. "

My account hadnt been suspended . the bets were accepted. The bets were then paid out into my account , only when i attempted to withdraw my funds did Betsense suspend my account.

I have asked for the payment to be made. I have offered to refer the matter to Majorwagers arbitration service . Unfortunately so far Betsense have not responded to mf last email.

Thanks for listening everyone . Do yourselves a favour withdraw your funds from Betsense NOW .(or at least try to)

            Good Luck

            Kevin

              What a nightmare.

Betsense is located in London. Betting is legal there. Wouldn't that make them vulnerable to a lawsuit?!

Maybe . Although gambling is legal, gambling debts are not enforceable. The recovery of any winnings would not be possible. It MAY be possible to recover any deposits made , as long as they are still intact.
Because of these doubts the cost of the case would have exceded the amount lost , and ,although I was advised my chances of success were better than 50/50, it was still possible I would lose.

I hadnt read the SBR main page. Didnt realise that Betsense was a current issue for some players.
Should/Could it be moved to a seperate thread ?

That's about as balant of theft as you will ever see. They just stole the player's money plain and simple. Its too bad this case is 4 years old now. We would have really had some fun with these crooks.

As I said in another thread, although the guy involved here was not an American, Anericans are very naive and get trapped in these scam books quite often. We have seen books refuse payouts unless the mark sends in another dime.
