Another example of why MLB needs to have instant replay in playoffs
In slow motion Gordon clearly safe at second base and its almost impossible to make that call without seeing replays. You gotta make a play like that where it affects the score and perhaps who wins the series reviewable. You look at other sports, where NBA reviewing everything including out of bounds plays, and NFL has all scoring plays reviewed, something has to be done.

All you need is to graze his butt. If there was a challenge like in football the call on the field would have stayed because of no conclusive evidence. Only way to know for sure is if there was a camera angle between the glove and his butt.

if he tagged him the first time, why was he so desperate to tag him again on the leg?

why was gordon so adamant that he wasn't tagged?

        lots of questions for sure.

I'll tell you why. He wanted to make sure the ref saw he had the ball secured in the glove when he tagged him. The ref doen't have replay. He has to look at three guys at the same time. One guy is throwing a bullett at 80 mph. The other guy is running at 20 mph sliding head first. The other guy is staying still and trying to tag as fast as he can. The human brain can't process these 3 different actions at the same time when they occur almost simultaneously.

I don't blame the ref. The replay wouldn't have resolved anything. Maybe if robots were refereeing we would have a different call.

Roll back to mid 1800's rules where if the arbitrator (umpire) can't make the call runners and fielders must honestly determine the outcome of the play.

Good points easy, it really doesn't make sense that TBS has invested in this behind the fence "rail-camera", there are literally 10 cameras at one time focused on game-play during the playoffs and we have no instant-replay challenge. You look at all popular sports - NBA, NFL, NHL, and even the MLS now and they review, baskets, goals, and the NFL reviews everything up-to and including players scratching their asses.

you can not interupt the human element of part of baseball..its way to crucial, its the heart of the game. no robot shit. no instant replays. the games are already 3-4 hours long. review every play they are gonna be 5 hours.
