People who think ruth was better than gehrig are clueless. Gehrig was a better all around player he just didn't crave the attention like the bambino.

          Gehrig played five less years.

My favorite fun fact is, in '27, Gehrig drove in 175 runs batting fourth behind Ruth hit third in the order.
Ruth hit 60 homers that season in front of Gehrigh, which means at least 60 times, and then some, Gehrig came up with no men on.

Like I said, Gehrig drove in 175 that season. Ruth *only drove in* 164.
They pretty much both played every game that season.

How is that even possible, driving in 175 with Ruth homering 60 times in front of you?
I hear what you're saying (and that you edge Ruth) but:

The fun fact doesn't say anything comparatively about Ruth. In fact Ruth was on base 296 times in front of Gerhig where Koenig was only on 172 times in front of Ruth. Even if you include the TWO batters ahead of each it's more base runners for Gerhig - 468 to 459. Advantage Ruth.

You're the one acting like you saw them play with subjective (and non-relevant) data - "crave attention," "was a monster," "athlete with better skills..." etc. Yankeeography really? The fact is if you look at the stats (aka FACTS) Gerhig was nowhere near Ruth - particularly as a hitter as originally stated. In fact Gerhig was nowhere near Ted Williams. Top ten player of all time - sure. But anyone who entertains that ANY player was better than Ruth is full of it and their credibility is to be seriously questioned.

Can you imagine in 1948 and 1949 if there was cable TV, social media and so on......
What would these two be making in today's market? 30 million per?
