Dumb move. So he goes out for spring, irritates it more. Totally blows the elbow out and finished forever instead of a year.

You kids are so damn stupid! A player tweeting see you next year, and now you think he's going to be there

Let me inform you kids they cannot get a final diagnosis because of the swelling in his elbow, once that goes away they can get a clear MRI and then as always players like getting second and sometimes 3rd doctors opinion

Has the mets sent out an official tweet or press release saying anything about his status? No!

i do agree that is pretty bizaree for him to tweet this. like u said they have to wait for the swelling to go down to take another MRI and see whats up

but maybe he knows something we don't

Even if he has the surgery he will be back the 1st of April. Doesn't mean he will play.

They need to reevaluate when the inflammation goes down in 2 weeks.

Anything other than that, is stupid, premature and just dumb.

                  People, horses, whatever.

Only one way to do it right and I just stated it.

Not really. Tommy John surgery is very successful and makes most guys arms stronger. There's actually some pitchers in the minors doing it even though they don't need it. Was listening to Schilling talk about it last night.

been following this pretty closesly. their is 0% chance he is pitching in April. He will be out a minimum 11 months if not the entire next season and might not pitch another game in the majors until 2015

If he comes back without surgery he will be a great fade material after some starts because these type of injuries just don't go away once they are triggered. Just watch his games and once you notice his velocity dropping start fading. If he doesn't have surgery, he will re-injure by all star break and will eventually need tommy john.

remember...it is just a "partial" tear. so I have read that it can been healed without surgery if its not torn completely, which it is not.. but that also takes a ton of time, so if thats what he is referring to, I have no idea how he expects to be back April 1st.

anyway. like every one has said, all of this is moot until the swelling goes down and he has another MRI done.

There is an old saying "if surgery is avoidable", always take that course of action.

Maybe it is a dumb move, but Matt Harvey is possibly the most intense player in the MLB and he knows that he is the franchise. This is where he's better than Kershaw as his competitive fire comes out. The entire thing sucks, but I want to see him pitch; fuk the surgery.

Telling Matt Harvey that he can't pitch until 2015 is like telling a bettor that they can't bet until 2015; not possible.

do you want to see him pitch 3 months and destroy his career?

or have the surgery and possibly come back better and stronger and have a fully dominant career?

aren't guys coming back from Tommy John throwing even harder these days?

dont you agree though that if the Mets knew Harvey hard forearm issues all season and had been being treated since spring training, he shouldn't have been throwing nearly as many sliders as he was?

Apparently Roy Halladay had the same issue 10 years ago, no surgery and he seems to be just fine.
