Philly is getting yet another casino, meanwhile, NJ casinos are slowly biting the dust.

The Pennsylvania Convention Center will play host to a beauty contest of sorts, as six groups of wealthy businessmen and casino company representatives deliver their sales pitch to state gambling regulators in their pursuit of a potentially lucrative casino license in Philadelphia. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board's daylong hearing at the convention center today will give each applicant about 45 minutes to showcase their casino plans. The eventual winner, expected sometime later this year, will have the right to build the second casino in Philadelphia.

Three of the bidders — the groups backed by Penn National, Procacci and Manookian — have offered plans to build casinos in South Philadelphia, in or near the city's sports stadium complex. Wynn wants to build on the Delaware River waterfront just north of Center City, near where the city's first casino, SugarHouse, already is operating. Goldenberg is targeting a casino for a parking lot near the city's historic district, while Blatstein's plan is to build at the iconic white tower that formerly housed The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News.

Yes, it will definitely be near the stadiums. Probably along Packer Avenue would be my guess.

If Jersey wins this sports betting legal issue, Pennsylvania casinos may not be a good bet.

The idea of driving down to AC on an NFL weekends, or March Madness is going to be huge for AC.

But if NJ wins the case, then it won't matter because Pennsylvania will just follow suit. After all, you can't make a law for one state only. If NJ can do it, so can Pennsylvania.

This isn't really 'new' news. The 2nd license has been out there waiting for a while since the last deal fell through. Wynn's been in and out a few times by now iirc.

Philadelphia is making the same mistake the Atlantic City did, too many casinos in too small a place. I doubt Philadelphia will become a destination like Atlantic City tried to. So they are relying primarily on the local populace to gamble. There are like 7 casinos around Phily. They just Cannibalize each other. There arn't enough gamblers in eastern pa to support that many casinos.
