    Oregon and 2pt Attempts
One of the top teams in the nation often goes for 2-pt conversion attempts in "non-2pt situations".

Poster Mathdotcom has long been an advocate of this strategy. In fact, rumor has it that the Oregon coach learned this strategy from one of Mathdotcom's pupils.

Maybe the rest of the coaches will wake up and grow some sack.

funny how a team that can score 60 points goes for two every time. guess they know their defense is garbage.

it has nothing to do with their defense. if they see the defense lined up that would favor their scheme to go for 2 than they go for it. if they don't like what they see from the defense the kick the XP. simple as that.

I have posted that it is almost a no brainer to go for it when success = tie game 14-14 vs. failure = 14-12. Kicking 1pt gets you a useless 14-13.

Others disagree because they fear 2 consecutive FGs by the other team which would create an 8pt lead which would've otherwise been only 7. Obviously the bigger (and more likely) concern is the other team scoring 1 FG which puts you down 4 when if you had gone for it you would be down only 3.

Professional coaches always follow the strategy of: only gamble if you absolutely have no other choice. It is a truly ridiculous philosophy and we often see teams punt 20 yards when facing 4th and 1 and down a couple TDs "because there is still time". What is even more shameful is the announcers backing them.

If you make 2pt conversations over 50% of the time it is an intelligent decision to always go for 2 points unless you just scored a TD and are up by 2 with a minute left.

This is a situation where we would never ever observe a team go for 2 and try to end up 4 instead of 3, but why not?
You win the game if you convert and other team can't score TD
You lose the game if you miss and the other team nails a FG

If your defense is horseshit and you're confident in your conversion chances, why not?
