Pitt is not a Baseball town. Plus the Economy probably plays a part as well.

Are the outfield seats bleachers or assigned seats?
Seems like people in the first deck in left field, then nobody. And down both lines its just empty seats

Pitt used to be a huge baseball town, but all the years of losing have really drowned them. I just had the game on myself and I can't believe so few are in the stands. I mean honestly they may have been playing very shitty as of late but 2.5 games is nothing. They go on a little run to end the season and they will be in the playoffs. More people should be at this game.

Yeah and theyve had a good team for a while
Pittsburgh has a great stadium, contending for the playoffs, not rainy or overly cold, and tickets are probably dirt cheap.
Head scratcher to me since the brewers draw so well in a smaller, poorer city

My thoughts EXACTLY
gives you negative home field advantage when the players think nobody cares

I think the Buc's fans have been so disappointed in the past that they figure 'why bother getting your hopes up?' Also, as someone else mentioned, the economy has to play a role.
If anything, the Brewers should be embarrassed to have only one run after having so many in scoring position.

id imagine milwaukee is a bigger city though, i thought pittsburgh was the smallest city with 3 major sports teams.

In atlanta last year for a brewers series, a girl i was talking to could not believe me and my son were from milwaukee. She kept saying "no way did you come all the way here for baseball games" and really thought i was lying.

Pitts got the casino next door as well. I remember when the red sox played there last year. I didn't go, but heard it was a good trip

Pirate fans are an embarrassment when measured by attendance. But the few proud long term fans are pretty cool and knowledgable.
What really boggles my mind though is the White Sox drawing even less than the Pirates....what is that all about?

Give us a reason to ROOT, and it'll sell out nightly. Their recent losing streak has pissed the Bucco faithful off something fierce. Take 2/3 from mike's brew crew, and we're talking jam packed.

nah,
the numbers were dwindling even when the Pirates were still right near first place.
Pirate fans just don't have the attention span in general for 162 game season, even when they used some smoke and mirrors to be appear to be a contender.
it will take a real deal strong season and deep playoff run before they start to push through the turnstiles like 1991 or something.
I think that could very well be in 2014

Youre right, i stand corrected in terms of city population. But. Milwaukee And cincinnati are essentially tied for smallest tv market in all of baseball

My point is that the chances of taking 2/3 would be much greater if it was packed now.
