Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water quite yet. This is a great thread and I hope to continue it as has ben the case now for three+ years. It is only the articles and time associated with them.

Just so the word is out from me first, I have resigned from writing articles for SBRforum.com. It had nothing to do with the rough ride I have endured in terms of wins and losses, but rather the huge amount of time I have given and just cannot continue to give to the production of articles. Many of you experienced the great seasons of the past few years, so hopefully this is a blip on the screen and with the added time I can do better research in handicapping games and finding complete wagering opportunities in all major sports.

I have enjoyed writing them, but find that I have several opportunities before me that I simply need time to devote to. I do hope to continue these threads and provide videos with Peter Loshak indefinitely. Peter is the best!

I will also be redeploying my own personal site: johnryansports.com, which will have links to SBRForum as well. This site will provide you with handicapping stats, data, facts, and fantasy football ideas that you are more than welcome to share on these threads too.

Our group will continue on no matter what... everyone got that part.. It actually will free up a ton of time for me to be more appropriately invovled with the thread - to provide the REASONS and matchups that make me confident of my selection. Without the articles, my focus is 100% back to handicapping.. kind of like Rocky goimg back to the old gym to put in some hard work to prepare.

The John Ryan site is hosted by iPages and I did see that notice several weeks ago. There has been no hack.. Google has confirmed it. I will call iPages this morning and get it completely resolved. I apologize if you did receive it in error. Scarey to say the least, but be assured it is not an inffected site and was only 'hacked' to state so.

Hey John, what are you thinking on tonight's game?! I am an avid Vikings fan so I typically try to stay away from betting their games unless I have a huge lean. Both team's have good rush D and equally good rushing games. I think Minny wins this one but it should be tight and i'm not sure they cover a TD unless Harvin returns one on special teams. I think the under might be the bet here tonight at 43. Looking forward to your thoughts!

With all of the injuries ad late announcements for starters, I don't like releasing plays several days early. It is rare that a play would be eliminated from action based on injuries, but this is the time of year where sudden and unexpected announcements are made. It is more important to me to promote discussion and debate on this thread then to simply release plays. My goal is to win and qin big.. I have ben successful for 18 seasons and I am not about to stop now.

I do NOT have a play for tonight. Only a slight lean toward Arizona.. I think a small money lie p;lay on SF is a decent opportunity. But as far as our records, this is a NO play. Have a great night and pray for the well being in the path of Sandy.

Let's take Tuesday and start a discussion on the use of yards-per-point as a strong and accurate handicapping tool. The pro teams themselves use this stat to accurately reflect where their respective offensive and defensive units grade out.

Green Bay ranks fourth best in the NFL posting a 13.3 yards-per-point offensive ratio. Over the last three games they have are ranked best in this category with an 11.1 ratio. The Cardinals are struggling offensively and it is evident with their 24th ranking posting an 18.3 yards-per-point ratio. It is a bit skewed after being dominated by the 49ers where they posted an incredibly poor 88 YPP ratio in that 24-3 loss. This quickly shows the Packers offense is vastly more efficient, especially in the red zone, than the Arizona Cardinals.

Based on this stat alone, you can easily see how these are two ships heading in opposite directions.

Jordy Nelson was held out of last week's 'escape' from Jacksonville, who gave the Packers a bit more game than anticipated. This is a much greater test of course, and with the Cardinals now needing a win, I believe Nelson will be a significant part of the offensive game plan. keep your eyes on the ever growing NFL injury list.
