They are saying the Fans may start booing the home team In Saskatchewan this week. The Quarterback is frustrated, the Coach is Frustrated… The Kicker, along with the key RB is hurt… Yet… In the CFL, The 1-5 Riders are just ONE game from making the playoffs.
Obviously it’s a luxury that is bestowed upon a league with just 8 teams, and when coming into games like tonight, where most people are writing them off for a public burial, It just takes ONE big effort to turn things around.
With that said, Calgary is 4-2, with THREE of those wins all coming . ON THE ROAD? (BC, Win, Sask) … Nothing is really convincing me of much reading through all of my napkin filled handicapping notes. I think this game is a real toss up with a slight lean on the Stamps. What I really think though, is this is the right time to “Chase the Pace”.
Last couple of weeks I’ve been really struggling to find motivations with teams that have failed to.. motivate themselves… But tonight, I think this is the right timing for a big play on the Over, with BOTH teams looking to prove themselves. Watching the last few Saskatchewan games, its clear the talent is there, just not enough to start finishing drives. I am for sure worried about not having their starting kicker, but something about when a young kid gets his first start in the pros. Or Rookie K Milo may just suck outright and punt the ball into the stands a few times to set up field position for the Stamps, I’m not sure, but I just think this game, which is in the same venue that it was 2 weeks ago, with a Total 5.5 points lower this time around, has a MUCH better chance to be opened up around after the SIX point fourth quarter they had last time. I just don't see that happening again with a history of these 2 teams really going at each other offensively the past 2 regular seasons.
These things have a way to even themselves out, and after the 32 that the Stamps dropped on the Tiger Cats last week, whose defense I consider VERY respectable, I think that this could carry over from that game, particularly in the second half… I hope I’m not getting trapped into a sucker bet, but I’m going big on this one…
