I bet $20 per unit, so a 10- or 15-unit bet of $200 or $300 to me isn't necessarily a "huge" bet by any means. There is nothing that says my unit size has to be $100 per. You seem to be confused by how much of my overall bankroll I bet when I make a big play; you said something in my NFL thread about my 49er play being "50% of my bankroll" or something to that extent. No, it was 50% of my cleared profit for the season. Big difference.
You claim to do this for a living (or something to that extent). I don't. I have a real job in the real world and make real money. This is fun for me; recreational, discretionary income that I'm betting. I'm going to take some chances on some bets, but that doesn't mean a "step out" bet of a couple hundred dollars is me betting beyond my means or being out of control. I don't understand what you don't understand about that. You have no idea what my bankroll is; I've never posted a play that is "x% of my bankroll." Just x units, at $20 per unit.Comment -

Truth betold, I probably am. I don't know. I spent the first year and a half of my gambling life having no idea what I was doing and lost plenty then. I do OK now.
But again, I really don't care. This doesn't affect my bottom line in any way, shape or form. I don't need the money I wager, win or lose betting on sports. It's fun to me because it makes games interesting and I'm a big numbers/stats guy. That's why I started doing it almost four years ago to pass the time between fantasy sports seasons. In retrospect, I should've just stuck to fantasy because I was killing that and it's hard to do both so that aspect has suffered. But I love the daily action of sports gambling.
I really don't understand you at all, and probably never will. I truly feel sorry for you in a way if this is honestly the way you make your living, yet it explains quite a bit and you've chosen this path so it's on you. I couldn't imagine betting on the Raptors, for instance, as a way of deciding if I'll have enough to eat, pay rent or whatever you do.Comment -
