The problem with LA is Derrick Fisher, Ron Artest, Shannon Brown and Steve Blake. These are four key players for the Lakers who are all playing terribly this year and what's most important is that they have been playing terrible lately. Those 4 guys in January averaged 24 points on about 42% shooting (5% below the team average). Artest is a terrible offensive player and his defense is no where near what it used to be. Fisher is the worst starting PG in the NBA right now by far. He shooting the worst of all of them. He can't penetrate and doesn't create for his team. Blake and Brown started off hot this year and as of late they have been horrible. Blake has had zero double figure point games the last ten games and Brown has had one. You can't beat Boston on the road with 4 key players playing really badly.

It also doesn't help that Andrew Bynum who hasn't been playing well now has to go out there with the thoughts of being traded to Denver for Carmelo. The Nuggets would be really terrible if that trade did go down and it just sucks to go from living in LA to freezing Denver. If I were him I'd be really nervous about all that talk and it may affect his play.

If Pierce is healthy, there should be no reason for LA to win. Against the elite of the NBA, Lakers are 0-5 this year. They lost by 16 to Heat at home, lost @ Spurs by 15, lost @ Mavs by 9, lost to Boston at home by 13, and lost at home to the Spurs by 1. Kobe scored 17 vs miami, 21 @ SA, 21 @ Mavs, 16 vs SA, and even when Kobe scored 41 points in the Staples Center they still got crushed by Boston by 13.

On the other hand, Boston has done very well vs the NBA's elite. They beat Miami by 8 at home, beat Miami by 5 on the road, lost @ Dallas but covered that game as they were on b2b without Rondo, lost @ ORL by 8 but led by double digits all game and just gave it away at the end, beat SA by 2, beat Orl by 3 at home, beat LA on the road, and then lost to Dallas on the road in a game they led and blew at the end. They are 5-3 SU so far this year against the elite. In all 3 of Boston's losses, I really thought they should have won. They led by double digits vs Orlando on Christmas and had no business losing holding Howard scoreless through 3 quarters. In both Dallas games, Boston had a 4+ point lead in the 4th quarter.

Also, Ray Allen is going to break that 3 point record tomorrow. That is really going to get the Celtics going when he gets it and I think the team will turn it up to another level and I can just feel the Garden going nuts.

Fri 2/11:

(1.5x) sixers +4_friday night home dog play. the sixers are 3-1 ats as home dogs of 3.5-6 pts. last year as a 3.5 home dog to the spurs, philly won outright by 12. the spurs play tomorrow, so they may try and keep the minutues down for their veterans if they get up in this game. revenge play for the sixers who got buried in texas by 23.

(3x) magic -9_the hornets have been lost without their defensive presence (okafor) and he will be greatly missed tonight as the hornets try to defend howard. orlando has had 2 straight impressive wins and will look to avenge a loss at no from jan.

Well Dex, what are your thoughts. I have taken the Clipps at -3.5 and Det +8 for 1x and 2.5x respectively. I also took the Jazz over 208 at 2x since Sloan retired, my thinking is they may not win, but they should have an elevated output so think they should try to show a lot of scoring since that is what they claim is what Sloan was holding back on (defense and controlled offense over scoring).

I would like to see what you come up with today, especially if you take a side on the following games....

I don't know what to think about the LAL after the big win yesterday, but you have been spot on saying that they were going to show something on this roadtrip, so far so good.

I like Indy at -8, they could blow out Minny, but I would have liked to see the line a little lower, I also lean Portland at -2.5, and I lean San Antone at -3.5 as they are still playing the best on the road.

If they [orlando] keep up with what they have been doing at home it should be a 10+ win. They get a day rest before LA, so I don't think that will play into it too much. I went 1.5x on the play and I am going to stick with it unless someone does a good job of talking me out of it. BTW, I am glad I stuck with the Laker play with you. That was money. My wife was watching a show, so I couln't see the LAL game till midway 3rd Qtr, but when I did get to see it, I felt really good, they looked focused.

Also, I will probably play philly 1st half as SA usually stays close first half and wins second half.

(3x) jazz -6 (A3)_the jazz have also been alternating wins/losses (su and ats) for 9 games in a row now (coming off a loss). i would have gone heavier but the sloan situation has me confused on how the players will react. when a coach gets fired, teams usually react positively. sloan had his disagreements with deron, but sloan was a great coach.

im on det and its never a bad play to fade the cavs.

good angle there with the over - if its anyone that knows utah bball its you. jazz are an a3 for me so i played them for 3u.

the wolves have had 2 impressive straight road wins (su) as big dogs, so im not comfortable laying the pts with indy. but they are 4-0 ats as home favs of 6.5-9.

no opinion on portland, and i played the sixers....just a strong feeling that last years game in philly gets replicated. history has a way of repeating itself sometimes.

Thanks for your response Dex.

I feel good about your LAL and Jazz picks and will tail on those. I like the idea to ride the Lake Show till whenever, maybe with Sloan hanging it up, it gives Phil some added incentive to go out big in his last season.

I also like the Philly pick and am on it, but will probably take Philly 1H to cover. More times than not if SA wins across the Mississipi, the first half is close and they win the 2nd half. If they lose the game even better. I think teams that pull out a lot of wins second half start to enjoy trying to win that way. Lakers used to do it and did the other night, and SA has done it quite a bit too.

So I will be on Philly 1H and Philly for the game with you. I am going to look at the Indy game a little more, but might just go small on the 1st half or maybe just lay off of it as I will have plenty on Jazz, LAL, Philly, Pistons, and Orl. Well back to work for me for another 4 or 5 hrs.

back when ford stock was at 2.80, I bought about $800 worth. I have had to since sell 60% of it over the past few months, but what I still hold onto is definitely a nice little egg to keep me positive. The other stock that I bought was SOLR when it was at $3.90 and it has been at around 10.50 since. On the bummer side, I also have some sirius stock too, but if it ever gets in the $2.20 range, I will get all my money back. I think SOLR and F still have plenty of upside going forward.

Anyways, enough of my distractions

So SOLR (GT Solar) and SOLF (Solar Fun) seem very similar and both doing well now. Funny thing, at the time I was just looking for company that supported the solar energy industry and found SOLR, I could have just as easily stumbled onto SOLF. Lets hope they both continue to do well.
