#9522Please respond when time permits despite scratch. I just spent an hour doing all this to have him scratched.
All Pletcher?
GP R6 #8 ** 41K 6F Acclaimed Victor. OFF 325. Just came out of my stable. 2 Very impressive starts IMHO, but certainly green.
TB 1/26/24 R8 7F MSW #4 off at 1/2. Appears disinterested (in gate)/Green, left at gate pretty badly. Long steady drive to be 2nd.
GP 3/2/24 R2 #6 MSW 89K. Off 7/2 Absolutely LOADED field, Big City, Jefferson Street, Be You. Blocked stretch turn by Be You (How does the 2 not get taken down?) Nice recovery to be nipped for 2nd, catching Jefferson Street and Big City.
1) Why is this guy off 325?
2) Why does he show up in a 41K **?
3) Why wasn't Be You #2 disqualified GP R2 3/24?
4) Why Scratched??
Seems like an endless journey to understand horse racing.
Madison I will make some generalizations because without knowing the inside stuff it just a guess. STR has a better idea than me for sure. But here it goes.
Being off for 325 days ... sometimes horses get going then have setbacks....Look at "straight no chaser" had a setback... finally gets going again..and then the trainers team (groom, exercise rider and himself) notice something off..... so another set back.... Hence he only raced 3 times in 2024.
As for as showing up for that price.... maybe it sounded like a good idea at the time or now maybe another condition book opened up and they found a "better" spot for him. I t could be as simple as he wasn't feeling himself this morning to maybe it was a vet scratch.
Not sure on the DQ as I didn't see the race....Comment -

#9524Real Savvy UpdateCheck out this fresh video update on Real Savvy down at Wavertree Stables. As you’ll hear, farm trainer Ciaran Dunne is extremely pleased with how your colt is doing and looking since getting back into the swing of things. He should be ready to get back to breezing next week or so

Looking forward to him getting back to the track!

#9527a megabucks kee yearling purchase who ran 2 promising starts as a young 3yo..shelved for 325 days and shows up for a $35k tag ..something wrong with him ..imo these connections just want to get rid of this horse but wouldn't run him if he were unsound ..probably be a good pickup for a smaller outfit and likely there would've been a few claims in for him had he run .. only todd knows why he was scratched

Probably trying to make his return as easy as possible for him off that presumptive surgery.
Don’t have any details on the DQ question
Could have been scratched for any number of reasons. Track condition or horses health on race day probably lead the list. Possible paperwork problems as well after a year off. All speculation though.
Just keep an eye out for him in the coming weeks.
Hope that helps..Comment -

#9530capped this race for the turf and it was taken off and run on the poly so a lot of the argument I made didn't apply ..probably what str said with lasix and jock staying aboard played a bigger role
my casual observation is these two sires we follow can get runners on any surface or track condition..find some signs of life without things being too obvious and you can land a nice price like this one ... $52 to winComment -

#9533When you are off about a year, you have a horse that suffered a major fracture and subsequent operation which typically takes 6 months of down time for starters. So add 6-7 months from the last start and roughly 3-4 months of training to get back to fit enough to race and you have just about a year.
Probably trying to make his return as easy as possible for him off that presumptive surgery.

Personally, seems like an arbitrary, track, full moon etc, as from track to track the rules seem interpreted differently.Comment -

#9534Thx. If you have time I would appreciate a comment on this DQ thing. Years ago (8?) I had a good bet on Frosted? at GP inn a major prep and he got DQ'D at 5-1 winner. Recently my curse Owen Almighty, who you graciously commented on his DQ. Would really appreciate a look at the GP R2 3/24 start and help understanding why Be You wasn't DQ'd as to my memory it was similar to the Frosted DQ.

Help me out please.
Also, tried to find a replay of the Frosted race but it won't load. Any replays you can see?Comment -

winner paid $4.80..very professional effort (debut horse) breaking from the rail and taken back just being off the leader in the backstretch.. the leader (other co favorite) looked like he didn't switch leads in the stretch and that had to help AG's causeComment -

I think a fan could just look for them and bet them based on that field and the price. The thing you can always count on is all of them giving all they have.
What a luxury that is.Comment -

I see where you are talking about with the winner drifting out a bit early in the stretch. But, he was his body length and another clear body length in front. The clear body length allows him to go where he wants to go. At no time did the rider of the 8 horse need to stop riding or trying to advance. Did the winner throw some dirt in the 8 horses face? Yes. Did the winner keep the 8 horse from trying to move up? No. He was clear.
What is clear? Clear is when you are a body length or more in front so if you do drift, there is no way the sets of hind legs by the leader and front legs of the chaser can possibly get tangled up. He was clear for sure. The rider of the 8 horse never had to check or stop riding when that occurred. Therefore, it was fair.
Did Irad do him any favors? No. Was it rough riding? No. Was it aggressive riding? Probably.
Hope that helps give you a better understanding of what is allowed Madison.Comment -

#9544I remember Discreet Ops. Chip Reed owner and little Benny F. trainer. Looks fine. One thing I would ask them is why she is not on Lasix. These hard trying horses almost always can use it. That seems odd.Comment -

nothing would surprise me with this guy..looks competitive in there ..also the two shortest rests were consecutive races so guess she comes out of races in good shape ..even if she does run well it's hard imo to justify the path taken to get her to this raceComment
