As you know with any sale it only takes 2 interested buyers to get the bidding going... With one being the person above ..I'm surprised that there wasn't another bidder.
I looked back at some other cyberknife's and their pedigree and how they showed in their videos. Interesting is all I can say.... a couple of them showed very poorly( and that could be by the person walking them) but they brought a little more. But again I'm not there in person...Comment -

#9419kind of flattering considering timberlake was by into mischief and a million plus earner (obviously this was before timberlake ran ) .. believe AM was a $7.5k fee then (20k now and 25k last year)Comment -

#9422I haven't reached out to my cousin yet..... I know she was really counting on the filly going for more, and I know she is pretty upset...I will give it a bit and see if she reaches out first. When I saw the price I figured she RNA'd it and was quite surprised by who bought it.( an Arabian prince looking to expand his stable).

Yeah, I figured that was it. Been there so I do get it. And losing a opportunity to have a nice colt while all part of the business really hurts the smaller players. It is such a rewarding business but man the hardships along the way can shake your passion sometimes. Wish her good luck in the future for me Batt.Comment -

#9428With a full slate of four MyRacehorse runners set to make afternoon appearances. click here to download past performances for all four races.
Just a reminder I have Caldera race 2 at Oaklawn and Sweet voyage Race 2 at Turfway.
Hopefully "blinkers on" help Caldera. While Caldera is getting first time lasix.... they are saying it's just precautionary..
Hopefully easier competition helps "Sweet voyage" this time around.Comment -

#9431Just don't want to duel early with the other barn horse. Hopefully not. Think this is all about your outside horse himself. Forget the race. Just watch the animal. Needs to break, be somewhat forward I guess, but the most important thing is to find a stride, not be all fired up. Breathing well. Switching leads, awaiting the riders asks. That will tell a lot of all this Batt. I would treat this as look at the horse, not the race. Hope that makes sense.Comment -

Now let’s just watch your horse closely and look for those things we talked about. Block out the other stuff. You can watch the replay to see the others later.
I think you will like that type of view.

#9434It took Caldera just about 24 seconds to understand to relax and think. That's pretty good at this stage of the game.
once he did, he responded perfectly at the 5/16ths pole the first ask which immediately put that horse away that challenged him and well again about the 1/8th pole or a bit sooner. All that thinking and responding on que can get a horse tired and your horse was tired the last 1/16th. See him switch back to the left lead there? Good stuff Batt.
He will be better next out but the competition will be as well. All in all, very well done.
Enjoy that win.Comment -

#9440Caldera Romps in Hot Springs!

Caldera put it all together today with an emphatic romp at Oaklawn Park!
Tugging his way right to the lead, your colt cleared off from the field comfortably into the first turn and traveled powerfully down the backside under a tight hold from jockey Rafael Bejarano. After fairly easy splits of :24 flat, :48.73 and 1:13.73, Caldera always figured to have something left, and once set down by Bejarano to keep his pursuers at bay he began to inch clear. Caldera showed off that impressive stride in the lane, and poured it on by 5 1/2 lengths while displaying perhaps a touch of greenness late.
We’ve believed since the fall that Caldera had this type of performance in him, and it was so great to see him take this big leap forward with the blinkers added, rewarding everyone’s faith and patience.
Off of today’s effort, and knowing that trainer D. Wayne Lukas is not one to shy away from a challenge, we would certainly think that the $1.25-million G2 Rebel S. back over the same track and trip Feb. 22 would be under consideration for Caldera’s next appearance.

Looking at her form, other than the 3 step slow, bad gate breaks in her career she has run 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 1st, and her reward for winning is to run her against the boys in a stake and then try synthetic. REALLY !
You know, I was no super star when I trained and you know I do not enjoy being critical of other trainers and the job they do, but... one thing I took pride in doing was trying my best to reward a horse that gave a solid effort with that same quality effort from me in finding the next race and doing my best to prepare them properly. I'm sure there is a stake race out there that I might have won at 80-1 somewhere. But it is fine with me that I missed it if it meant running hard trying horses in stupid spots. The appreciation that I have for hard trying, no matter the circumstance horses is probably more than it should be sometimes, but I always figured that I should try at least half as hard as my horse just did when it came to reading the condition book. But this trainer has nothing to worry about because she is an Army Mule and they will run their hearts out every time they step on the track.
So keep spotting her in terrible spots. Maybe you will win one of them. I guess it is all about the trainer, not the horse.
Harsh for sure but that is my take.
What I would have done for some more quality bred horses that ran their guts out.Comment -

Yep. He shied from the left handed stick.
The jockey started out right handed and used it a couple times. No problems. He then switches to his left hand. Very reasonable. He hits him once left handed and he slides over about 2-3 feet. Then, he hits him a 2nd time left handed and he ducks away from it about 5 feet. So... the rider somehow decides that he will hit him a 3rd time left handed and the horse ducks out to the way outside. A very poor decision by that rider. What the hell did you think he was going too do???
He finally gets his stick over to his right hand, hits him and the horse takes off.
A total jockey screw up IMO.
The horse was the winner if that does not happen and it would not have been a photo.
That rider is off, a HOF rider is on. Also blinkers ON today. He should run very well. My only worry would be him relaxing early with those blinkers. They usually do enough but I doubt he has totally forgotten about that race.
A solid play IMO Madison.
Good Luck.Comment
