was a win and you're in race for the breeders cup and likely have one more race before that..need a little luck but I think he'll be a serious contender in the bc mileComment -

#11099amazing how 2 turns on the dirt threw him for a loop in starts 3 and 4 but nothing but good things ever since putting him on the turf .. know it's not happening but I think he could possibly be a graded stakes horse on the dirt going 2 turns.. would love to see him try that if he runs next year .. my memory is horrible but seems like something you don't see much, if at all, in recent years or even further backComment -

#11100Hey STR: the track in question is CT. The Rider is Arnaldo Bocachica. Every time I look at that track Bocachica is riding one of the favs in the race about 80% of the time. It gets old. Wanted your thoughts on the matter. thx in advance.Comment -

#11102and I am initially referring to the ML and then the $$$ comes in knocking his odds even lower. I guess that can create opportunities like tonight in RACE #3 a 30/1 shot beat Bocachica.Comment -

It took him several months to figure that out. Clement giving him the time to mentally grow and develop made this horse what he now is.
Thats the thing about the Ky. Derby. It’s always such hype leading up to it and everything these young horses are trying to cram in mentally, you see the back end effect on horses that then put it together and learn to breath, relax, understand, etc. it’s really something to see isn’t it. All the crazy hype from babies up to the race. Then, it’s all gone and it’s off to the Preakness and Belmont.
It happens every year. Never changes it doesn’t seem.
He sure did do a Hall of Fame job with Deterministic.Comment -

That rider is very good especially against the other riders there. He is simply better. But he has a lock on the best horses. It does get old sometimes and he’s hard to beat but.. it’s not, IMO, that his talent alone is making those horses win. It’s not a Chris McCarron in Md. thing. It’s a very solid rider that is fed a pipeline of better horses and does very well keeping them out of trouble and making smart choices . He can pick and choose his mounts .
I remember talking about Runco before in here. I’ve know him for 45 years +. Let’s just say , not a fan at all.
I saw what he did time and again while establishing himself there waaay back. A back stabber and I’ll say IMO. But it’s not an opinion , it’s a fact that was repeated multiple times.
Not my kind of guy. At all.
I would not even acknowledge him if we passed each other.

He was still getting the hang of things and remember that long race where the rider lost his iron leaving the gate. That had him running scared and upset early not having a clear idea what all was going on.

can definitely see what you mean about the rush to the triple crown races not being the ideal learning environment for them..starting a horse off in the spring of his 3yo year when it's more mature and developed physically might lead to a better career long haul but will mostly be a secondary option with all the glitz and money of running early
definitely have more appreciation of the process of getting these young horses ready from you and certainly the clement's did a great job with deterministicComment
