Caldera Workout Update Caldera worked five furlongs in 1:00 flat yesterday morning at Oaklawn Park. The move was ranked 3/11 on the day. Your son of Liam’s Map continues to be on target for the next option in the condition book on Jan. 25. Oaklawn has cancelled racing and training for this weekend due to inclement weather, so he will have a few easy days before getting back to training early next week.

Real Savvy resumed training last week at Wavertree Stables. Farm trainer Ciaran Dunne expects to put 45-60 days of training into your son of Authentic, at which point he will be ready to rejoin the barn of trainer Christophe Clement. A little distracted with the fires down south. My team is next out so I have been working on getting additional safety officers to help if we are called. They extended the red flag warning for winds.... ugh... praying for no new starts....
Thank you for what you do Batt !
I hope they get that under control soon. It must be devastating for those people that live there.
Good luck and stay safe .

I looked at this race and was ready to post but the site was down. Next thing I know, I'm on the phone and it was too late.
What I was going to say was, if this horse can settle in about 3rd it should run a decent race. I don't recall thinking the winner was one of those but maybe it was.
Looks like the horse ran a respectable race sitting just off the pace. Never easy going 5/8ths like that and pinned inside but it did try and do that. I saw the break was a mess for many, including this one. All in all, a nice effort it looks like.
You don't see the comment of Start: "Poor "very often do you. Almost everybody seemed to get bumped in that race early.

okay back to some updates on my horses STR,JBEX , Madison.. et all
(Black Tie Optional Update( Not this time)]Black Tie Optional continues to catch the eye at Wavertree Stables, where he’s been picking the pace back up after some easier days over the holidays.
Farm trainer Ciaran Dunne seems very pleased with the colt, noting that he’s really come along mentally as he’s been asked to do more. At this still early stage he gives the impression of one who could be on the more precocious side.https://cdnb-media.myracehorse.com/b...6532910719.mp4

Real Savvy Update We wanted to pass along some fresh video of Real Savvy along with commentary from Wavetree’s Ciaran Dunne. Your colt has enthusiastically returned to training and is doing well at this early stage of his ramping back up. Ciaran notes that he’s put on some good weight during the time off and is moving nicely since going back under tack.
Real Savvy will likely rejoin the Clement barn in the back half of February with the goal to have him ready when turf season starts up again in New York, typically in mid-April depending on weather.
While Real Savvy closed out his juvenile season with an impressive victory, there are many reasons to believe he’s going to be an even better sophomore, and we can’t wait to see if that comes to fruition this spring and summer

Trainer Jena Antonucci remains pleased with your daughter of Vekoma, noting she’s still building up her fitness, but progressing in the right direction.

Brothers new horse, In Limbo, had a second barrier trial on 23rd.
These are invite only barrier trials for the best new prospects btw.
2nd this time but the trainer says he is very happy with the run as the two colts she fought home against are among the most expensive and top prospects in the country this season.
The run also qualified her for the richest maiden race in the world, called the Magic Millions Debut, for 2yo first starters only.
She drew barrier 3, which would have been the trainers first choice.
There were 26 nominations who had qualified, they took the best 10. In Limbo was the 7th picked by the handicapper.
She has a top jockey on her, but the jockey on the favorite (#4) rode In Limbo and the 4 in barrier trials, and chose to ride the #4. Probably a strong pointer, but in a field of first starters who knows what might happen.
I notice the favorite is wearing ear muffs into the barriers, suggesting it's not that happy at the barrier yet. In Limbo has been excellent with great barrier manners and temperament, and jumped really well in every trial.
Sadly I am not there at the race today. My brother has been fighting multiple myeloma cancer for the last year. he thought he was beating it. Then he collapsed about a week ago and they found his femur and hip had both fractured and his knees were in trouble. He is hospital for intensive chemo for the next 30 days, and has to have some metal inserted to support bones (multiple myeloma is the cancer that attacks your bone marrow and sucks all the calcium out of your bones until they just start breaking all over our body)
Anyway, he is positive but obviously we can't go to the race. He is still excited to find out how she runs in a real race, and hopefully pick up a share of the 300k first place money.
I'm really hoping she does it for him. He can use all the good news he can get right now to stay strong.
She is paying 6/1 right now. I'm having a $100 swing on her.
Fingers crossed.

She ran good! relaxed nicely found room at the top of the stretch. Looked like when the jockey tipped her out he decided to go outside and the 2 horse drifted out also then angled inside... overall very nice race!

I have to admit I named a couple of horses terrible names along the way. They were so cheaply bred, I had fun with it. Probably my worst name was Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk. I did that because my father used to go crazy when he came home from work and I was watching the 3 stooges or McHale's Navy on the TV. I loved those when I was about 10 years old.
You typically submit a few names and they give you what they can. Lead Bottom was the other name I'm pretty sure. If you watched those shows, you would know what that stuff is. Have to admit, terrible names. I might have been enjoying myself a bit too much that evening with my roommate's when I came up with those. Lol.

Excellent Batt ! This horse has really taken to try and become a pro at this. You can see it in his face. He was looking all over the place a month or 2 ago when we saw him. Watch at about 30 seconds I think, when they gallop by close to the camera. The lead horse is hawking the camera and keeping a close eye on what is going on. And yes, part of that is because he is alone and leading the group. Then look at your horse. Head down, all business. Only thinking about what he is doing. No looking around or trying to think for himself. He is concentrating on his commands. Of course, he has the lead horse to follow so that allows him to do what he is doing but that is soo cool. He was not there a video or two before. He was looking at open doors and gaps and trying to think for himself. He's growing up in a hurry. Great to see.
That was a pleasure to watch. Thanks Batt.

Hi Opti,
So sorry to hear what your brother is dealing with. We all wish him nothing but the best. Sounds like his horse ran well.
And I see where they post all changes for the public including bit changes. That is really good stuff. Don't know why they don't do it in the U.S. They should.
You said it perfectly Opti. 3rd pays for lunch. I like that.
