Real Savvy will finally get to race this Sunday in the third race at Belmont at the Big A. Your son of Authentic will break from post two in a full field of twelve horses. Trainer Christophe Clement has booked Flavien Part to ride in the 1 1/16-mile turf contest.
As we know, it has been very frustrating trying to get Real Savvy into the main body of a race over the past month. Though we have been unlucky from that aspect, your colt comes into this race off of a superb second-place finish at Saratoga, a race in which the winner would go on to win a graded stakes event in her next start. That filly is named Scythian and will start tomorrow in the $1-million G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. She is 12-1 on the morning line. A good showing by her would flatter your colt’s form even more ahead of what we hope will be his maiden-breaking victory. Best of luck to all owners!

More on the competition (Click here for past performances):
#1 Prince of Danger: First-time starter for a barn that strikes at 4% first out, this New York-bred son of Florida sire Khozan will have to work out a trip from the one post.
#3 Sky Masterson: In his first effort around two turns on the grass he earned a 73 Beyer Speed Figure. Did not seem to like the crop in that start, which may have cost him the win. If he has matured since then he could factor in here.
#4 Leon Blue: Two second-place finishes from two starts for this son of Mo Town. He will look to put it all together in this spot. Earned a 75 Beyer Speed Figure last out, which would put him firmly in contention for a win here.
#5 Powered by Coal: Has not shown much in both of his starts so far as a longshot. Gets leading rider Irad Ortiz Jr. in this spot. Will have to improve significantly.
#6 Big Dosser: A first-time starter who has had most of his preparations at Parx. Pedigree suggests he should enjoy the turf and the distance, but will be difficult to win against this group at first asking.
#7 Calvin’s Ride: Has a career high Beyer Speed Figure of 40--will need substantial improvement to have a chance.
#8 Danzinger: Makes his second start and first on the grass. Was beaten 22 lengths first time out on the dirt, but he should improve with the surface change being a son of War Dancer.
#9 Calling Card: Was a closing second in a similar spot a couple of weeks ago. Likely needs to get slightly faster, but he also didn't get much pace last out.
#10 Caddiemaster: Has not shown much in his two prior starts. Attempts to go two turns on the turf for the first time. Pedigree doesn't give any strong clues in either direction.
#11 Tralee Girl: A stablemate of Real Savvy, this Clement trainee will be ridden by Manny Franco in this race. She is a filly in here against the boys in just her second lifetime start. Did cost some money, and was well backed on debut, but needs to take a significant step forward.
#12 Just Licorice: Dylan Davis seems to have passed on several other mounts to ride this Linda Rice trainee who was a well-beaten fifth first time out.

Race 3 Belmont today!

And an update on another horse.... just a perspective of ups and downs...... And another aspect of the business...Guinevere UpdateAfter weighing our options further and conferring with trainer Wesley Ward, we’ve elected to go ahead and commit to selling Guinevere at the Keeneland November sale without another race in between.
After doing additional research on the race she would’ve been eligible for at Keeneland, we did not feel she would have had a very strong chance in there. That race drew today for next Wednesday, and she certainly would have been a very big longshot in that spot looking at the past performances. Among the field of 12, there are four stakes winners—including one Grade 2 winner—and three other fillies who are stakes or graded stakes-placed. It will very likely take a mid-80s Beyer Speed Figure to win in that spot. Guinevere’s highest Beyer is a 66.
There also weren’t many other viable options for her at other tracks in the short term.
Considering all factors, we feel strongly that heading into the sale off of back-to-back wins, however modest, is the best way to maximize Guinevere’s return, coupled of course with her size/good physical and very in-demand sire.
We know this news will come as a disappointment to some, but we do feel strongly that it’s the proper course of action.
Guinevere is scheduled to sell at Keeneland as hip 1008 on Thursday, Nov. 7. We’ll be back with more before the sale.

Just wanted to check in with some additional information about Guinevere and the upcoming Keeneland November Sale.
We’ve frequently gotten the question as to whether or not Guinevere will have a reserve when she sells, and the answer to that is yes. The vast majority of horses at auction sell with a reserve, and almost every horse in Book 2 of the November sale will have one. That number is not set until the day of the sale, and is sometimes adjusted even in the final minutes before selling based on real-time information. We have a rough price range in our minds for now, but until we see what the interest level is like for her, it’s tough to tighten up that range.
We also have some racing and sales results to come that could impact her price and popularity, and if nothing else will be fun to root for.
While a disappointing Breeders’ Cup weekend for Justify probably wouldn’t hurt Guinevere’s price at all, a big weekend could add to the momentum and hype for the sire. In addition to European superstar City of Troy trying the dirt in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic, Justify has the likes of 3-year-old filly Ramatuelle, an impressive winner of the G1 Prix de la Forte Oct. 6 who figures to vie for favoritism in the G1 Mile (that’s the turf version—not to be confused with the Dirt Mile our own Seize the Grey is running in). Ramatuelle was a supplemental entry to Fasig-Tipton’s Night of the Stars sale on Nov. 4 and will no doubt be a big-ticket item.
We’ll have some additional relevant horses to watch at both Fasig-Tipton and Keeneland before Guinevere goes through the ring. Fellow MyRacehorse runner and stakes winner Rosie’s Alibi—also by Justify—sells at the Night of the Stars, and Guinevere’s dam and weanling half-sister by Epicenter will be offered at Keeneland as hips 367 and 368, respectively. There’s also a 4-year-old Justify racing/broodmare prospect catalogued as hip 339 at KEENOV.
Justify’s popularity all over the globe was further on display Tuesday when he was responsible for the top two lots at Tuesday’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Horses-in-Training Sale in Australia. Read more here.
Horses at Keeneland November will generally be shown one or two days before they are set to sell. Guinevere sells on Nov. 7. We’ll be back with more before then.

I think the two far outside horses should improve quite a bit off their last starts.

The two horses just to your outside are obvious candidates. Your horse should improve also.

You fit in there well. GL.

In his first start the race was broken into 2 races.... and the Beyer he got was I believe 7-8 points better than the winner of the second division..

LOLOL. The horse is hungry and wants to eat but is also still excited over the race and all the stuff happening in front of the stall.
I guarantee you he knows he won. And he is loving the attention.

Oh man ! Can't imagine.

Growing up ..( high school years) My Best friend Roy(R.I.P) and I would discuss "owning horses" if we ever became rich....
We met through mutual friends... Discovered that both our dads liked horses also (His dad is a Navy submarine vet also R.I.P.).
We spent many a summer together going to the race tracks throughout California together... as there was no"OTB" yet....
Both of us.... sitting in the backseat.... talking ,dreaming horses lol......
I went a way to college and those trips went by the wayside..... My dad and Joe continued their friendship..... Roy passed away a couple of years later.
Miss you Roy and Joe.....

Sounds like a solid business decision. She will win somewhere most likely. Maybe be bred without running anymore. Plenty of productive mares that were just slow but had good bloodlines.

Real nice job by the jockey getting Real Savoy to relax to darn near 25 in that 2nd quarter. Pace makes the race.

Thanks Batt. It's fun to get a sort of behind the scene information. Much appreciated and all the best!!

Real Savvy earned a 77 Beyer Speed Figure for yesterday's romp, which is a very solid number for a 2-year-old on the turf. The split division of the same race, run as the finale, was taken by a Chad Brown-trained firster who scored by 2 1/2 lengths and earned a 68 Beyer.
For further comparison, the G2 Pilgrim S. run on Sept. 28 was won with a 76 Beyer; and the Awad S. on Oct. 19 was won with a 70.

Your son of Authentic was off at 90 cents on the dollar and made those odds look like a steal. Straight to the front, the dark bay posted a quick opening quarter of :22.39 before rider Flavien Prat was able to slow things down through splits of :47.31 and 1:11.97 while well clear of the competition. Real Savvy always had total command of the race, and poured it on in the stretch to the tune of 4 1/2 lengths while looking very powerful.
This race was a bit of a merry-go-round with the top three finishers maintaining their positions throughout, but that was a solid-looking group of New York-bred maidens and wins on the grass don’t get much easier than that.
With turf season in New York winding down, we have two options to consider: give Real Savvy a break for the winter to have him fresh and ready for next spring; or head down to Gulfstream to try him in open company. We think both options have merit, and are probably leaning towards option A, but trainer Christophe Clement wants to think it over for a bit and look at the condition books before finalizing a plan. Christophe did also say that he thinks Real Savvy is legitimately talented and should handle open company—either now or in the future—just fine.
Congrats on the exciting victory. What a way to cap a big weekend!

We certainly haven’t come down from yesterday’s high and look forward to many exciting options ahead. Of course, now that he's a Grade 1 winner, stallion offers may arise, but given he remains in good physical order, Straight No Chaser is lightly raced and it would be very hard not to consider the big races in the Middle East in early 2025.
We will see how your colt continues over the next few days before ironing out future plans, but we won’t be in any rush to get him back in the entry box and a freshening of some sort will be likely.

Well knew this was coming.... But boy what a ride! and hopefully I get to watch his babies run!

He will ship to the farm on Thursday.
After Saturday’s finish, this was a pretty straightforward and logical decision—he accomplished plenty this term to get breeders excited and there’s as good of a chance that racing next year would diminish some of that excitement as it would increase it. He did come out of the race in good order with no issues and earned a 93 Beyer Speed Figure.
It looks like fellow top sophomores Sierra Leone and Fierceness will be staying in training for 2025, so Seize the Grey will get a chance to have a head start on them in the breeding shed and garner some extra attention this coming season as one of the two big 2024 3-year-olds retiring to stud along with Dornoch.
While the racing chapter of Seize the Grey’s story is coming to an end, we’re excited for what lies ahead and hope you all are too. Remember, the series has retained an interest in the colt’s breeding rights, and we plan to support him at stud in other ways as well.
Congrats again for all your colt has accomplished this year on the racetrack, and we hope you all had a great Breeders’ Cup week even though the final result wasn’t quite what we were dreaming of.
The next step for Seize the Grey is for him to settle in at Gainesway and be inspected by potential breeders over the next couple of weeks during the November sale. Then he’ll get a chance to rest up for the 2025 breeding season, which commences around Feb. 15. We’ll be back with plenty more in the interim.

Sweet Voyage breezed very well yesterday morning, covering five furlongs in an official time of 1:00.80. Breeders’ Cup-winning trainer Dan Blacker had your daughter of Candy Ride in :59.80 and said: “Worked in company on the outside of Farenheit OC. Started out strong and on the bridle, finishing up in :36 flat, under mild encouragement down the lane. Encouraging work.”
The return to the training track appears to have been a major benefit for Sweet Voyage. We remain on track for the aforementioned $50,000 maiden claimer on Nov. 16th.

Hip 339, another Justify racing/broodmare prospect, RNA’d for $70K. It’s fair to say those weren’t the most encouraging sales results as far as how they relate to Guinevere, but every horse is an individual.
A reserve will be set tomorrow much closer to when Guinevere will be offered and once we have a better feel for her level of popularity, but she will definitely have a reserve.
