Olimpija is playing B2B vs Vienna. The first match in Ljubljana has ended with 2-1 for away team. Despite the low score Olimpija had some decent chances but Zaba made good saves and Vienna has won in the end. Tomorrow a 19-year old Kickert will start for Vienna. So far he only played in 4 EBEL matches last year where he allowed 9 goals in 4 matches. Olimpija will probably finish their season as last but ever since coach Zajc made some changes with lineup they are playing a bit better. I'm sure they will manage to score 2 goals vs the young goalie tomorrow. They have scored 2 goals or more in 6 matches out of 10 so far, and that was playing without any chemistry in lineup and vs much better goalies.Comment -

These odds will probably drop by tomorrow especially with Florida's high loss vs Tampa Bay. Panthers got humiliated again, Markstrom with 75 % saves. Tomorrow they will play B2B vs one of the best clubs in the league, still struggling with injures, I think Penguins will extend their winning streak for a little longer. Last year Pittsburgh played better on the road at beginning of the season, lets hope it's the same this year. So far Penguins started really strong in the first period as they have won the opening period in all 3 matches so that's worth a shot vs shady Panthers.Comment -

Halak has shown some really good goaltending and even if they go with Elliott, I think they have it covered. Rangers ship is sinking lower, Nash is out 100 % since he was sent back to New York yesterday and will definitely miss the game vs Blues. I don't know why Vigneault still insists with Lundqvist, the guy could use a rest. Blues at + side, I'm taking it.Comment -

Here are some leans for tonight:
Tough times for Flyers continue as Lecavalier and Hartnell are out with injury. Yesterday they lost at home vs Phoenix who was B2B. Tonight Flyers go B2B to Detroit. Red Wings disappointed in the last two matches, they lacked offensive power but Babcock has made some changes to the lineup in order to fix that. I think we can expect Detroit to come out strong and break the losing streak with a home victory. They might start with Gustafsson and rest Howard for Boston though.
Buffalo seems very unstable and probably the only reason why they don't get humiliated more is Miller. Chicago should beat them at home despite playing B2B.
San Jose should be able to get another victory tonight. They have more offensive power and Niemi is solid. Hertl already has a target on him as Vancouver did a good job shutting him down but Sharks have other players who can score. Ottawa can be tough but I think not tough enough for Sharks.Comment -

Islanders are angry they couldn't produce more firing power in offense on the road games vs Chicago and Nashville so they made some additional training dedicated to that. They will start a 4-match home series which is a nice chance to bounce back on the winning board, starting by hosting Buffalo which is one of the most terrible teams in the league right now. Sabres have lost yet another match... They were actually not that far from the victory as they were a worthy opponent most of the game, just couldn't capitalize, so they must be frustrated. Tomorrow they can count on Miller to be in net as he was resting vs Minnesota which might make it a close match again but Sabres are B2B after another loss and Islanders should be too determined to win the home game to avoid extending the losing streak to 3. Buffalo was in similar situation once this year already, they were coming B2B of a home loss to lose a road game with Miller in net. Worth of playing early before the odds drop.Comment -

Oilers can score some goals but they are having lots of troubles when it comes to keeping the pucks out of their net as their goalies are not to a good start of the season. Tomorrow Dubnyk will probably start and he is even worse than LaBarbera. Gagner and Yakupov are injured and it certainly doesn't help going B2B from a tough loss in Washington to play one of the best teams in the league. Pittsburgh is a beast at home and despite Bennett's injury their offense should be too much for Edmonton to handle tomorrow. Did anyone else notice Pittsburgh has a relatively easy opponents throughout October schedule?Comment -

Clash of the teams who are in desperate need for points. Islanders are currently on a 3-loss streak but they are slowly building up their offense again, after some weak road games they had 44 shots at home against Buffalo but Miller saved the day and they lost after SO. I wrote about their additional training for offense already and as it turns out it helped them out. They played pretty good, had good offensive pressure and some scoring chances but outstanding goalie and lack of powerplay realization eventually decided the match vs team which was chasing their first season victory and was all-in - had nothing to lose. It is a nice boost for the team to see their captain firing up - Tavares is getting back on fire as he has points in last 5 matches. Tonight Islanders are looking for a chance to return on the winning track as they are hosting a weaker team. Oilers are on losing streak as well, they lost 4 matches straight. One of the reasons for bad performances is Edmonton needs better goalies as Dubnyk and LaBarbera are averaging 4.57 GAA which is by far the most in the league. Having a young and inexperienced roster doesn't help much when it comes to building a solid defense either. They have plenty of talent in the offense so they are relying on scoring more goals than allowing in their net. Neither of the teams excel in power play or penalty kill but Islanders are a tad better in both, Oilers are 29th when it comes to killing penalties with poor percentage of 66.7 % so expect the home team to have a slight advatange when it comes to special teams. Edmonton didn't win at New York Islanders' for more than 10 years so why breaking the tradition tonight?Comment -

Home opener for Ottawa who is coming from a roadtrip of 6 games. They grabbed 6 points in a 2-2-2 record but I think they are pretty underrated at the moment as I can't say they started with an easy schedule, they faced on the road San Jose, Anaheim and Toronto who are off to a very good start of the season. They played Phoenix 2 days ago with team captain Spezza scoring a (natural) hat-trick and winning in OT which is a nice way to conclude the series of road games. New Jersey is off to the worst start in franchize history as they remain the only team without a victory. Last they got totally shut down by Winnipeg where they remained scoreless. Lack of Ilya Kovalchuk and David Clarkson is visible more and more, Brodeur is getting too old. Tonight they will conclude the 5-games road trip and things just don't look good for them. However, Devils have 2 Senators killers in the lineup tonight - Jagr has scored the most goals vs Senators and Brodeur posted the most victories vs them. Last year Ottawa won all 3 mutual matches but I expect a close match tonight with possibility to end up in a tie.Comment
